In a tweet, Union Minister Pradhan said that he had spoken on telephone with Maguni Charan Kuanr, Antaryami Mishra, Krishna Patel & Patayat Sahu, who have been conferred with the Padma Shri this year, and congratulated them.

The Government of India on Wednesday announced the list of Padma awardees 2023. The list comprises six Padma Vibhushan, nine Padma Bhushan and 91 Padma Shri awardees.
Four persons from Odisha- Maguni Charan Kuanr (Art), Antaryami Mishra (Literature & Education), Krishna Patel (Art), and Patayat Sahu (Agriculture)- have been conferred with the prestigious Padma Shri awards.
While Kuanr is the pioneer of rod puppetry, folk singer Krishna Patel has lent her voice for Sambalpuri cult-song ‘Rangabati rangabati’ with Jitendriya Haripal.
Agriculturist Patayat Sahu, whom Prime Minister Narendra Modi had praised for creating a medicinal plant garden, has planted over 3,000 medicinal plants over 1.5 acres of land in Kalahandi.
Renowned writer and researcher Antarayami Mishra has been writing for nearly five decades on Odia language, history anf Jagannath culture.
Padma Awards - one of the highest civilian awards of the country - are conferred in three categories, namely, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri, for excellence in various disciplines and fields of activities such as art, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and industry, medicine, literature and education, sports, civil service, etc.
