As per reports, Mirata Singh of Nayagarh district, who is facing trial in a narcotics case, was found missing from his ward at the DCH at around 4 am today.
The duty nurse raised an alarm. Subsequently, the hospital staff searched the entire premises only to find him escaped.
Police sources said that the accused- Mirata Singh- was arrested and lodged at Baliguda Sub-jail in Kandhamal district on charges of smuggling ganja on July 4.
Singh has reportedly tested positive for Covid-19 on July 31. He was initially admitted to Baliguda Hospital and later shifted to the DCH here. However, he escaped from the hospital in the wee hours of today, sources added.
Police have registered a case in this connection and launched a manhunt to nab the accused.
