Australian wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey is in awe of Tim David's savage hitting, saying the 26-year-old's "raw power" simply amazes him.

Melbourne, Sep 2: Australian wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey is in awe of Tim David's savage hitting, saying the 26-year-old's "raw power" simply amazes him.

Cricket Australia (CA) on Thursday included Singapore-born, Perth raised David in place of leg-spinner Mitchell Swepson in their squad for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup in October.

David has established himself with some quality performances in leagues around the world, earning a place in the 15-memebr Australia squad. He is a highly gifted and natural striker of the ball who can add extra batting depth to the group, which has enjoyed a lot of success in T20 cricket of late.

The 26-year-old was a relatively unknown entity in Australian cricket before he was picked by Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction for a mind-boggling Rs 8.5 crore.

Following successful stints with MI and BBL side Hobart Hurricanes, he has a chance to further his career with the Australian side when it begins its campaign in the ICC T20 World Cup at home in October.

"I've played against him (David) in the Big Bash and I've seen his raw power from behind the stumps," Carey said on SEN 1170 Breakfast on Friday. "He's got the ability to hit both sides of the ground.

"The media and the noise around Tim David is that he has just got that ability to hit sixes from ball one. Not a lot of guys have (that ability). What a ride it has been for him in the last 12 to 24 months, he has come from a middle-order Big Bash player to dominating the world scene in the middle overs," added Carey.

David, while spending most of his growing years in Western Australia, was born in Singapore and represented the country of his birth in 14 T20Is, averaging just under 47 runs at a strike rate of 158.

Carey said David was among the best T20 batters in the world, and compared him with the likes of India's Hardik Pandya and West Indies' Kieron Pollard.

"Along with Hardik Pandya, (Kieron) Pollard and (Andre) Russell, these guys have freaky abilities," Carey added.

"Looking at that T20 Australian line-up, it's a hard line-up to crack into. They've got some selection headaches, that's for sure."

Australia will play the opening match of the T20 World Cup against New Zealand at the Sydney Cricket Ground on October 22.

No Road, Pregnant Woman Carried On Cot In Keonjhar

Keonjhar, Sep 22: A pregnant woman was carried on a cot for around one kilometer due to lack of motorable road connectivity to their village in Odisha’s Keonjhar district on Thursday.

As per reports, Mani Munda, wife of Dhubei Munda, of Gurum Chandposhi village under Talapada gram panchayat of Telkoi block in the district complained of labour pain yesterday.

Soon, the family members called up the 102 ambulance service. Subsequently, the ambulance arrived, but it stopped near Talapada High School around one km away from their village, due to lack of motorable road connectivity.

Left with no option, the family members, with the help of villagers, carried the woman on the cot to reach the ambulance. From there, the woman was taken to the Community Health Centre in Telkoi, where she delivered a baby boy. The condition of the woman and her new born were stated to be stable, sources said.

This is not an isolated case of such incident in the region. Several villages in the district lack all-weather motorable roads for which patients and expectant mothers are being carried on cot or sling to reach the hospital.

Jaipur, Sep 22: Udaipur is all set to host the wedding of AAP MP Raghav Chadha and Bollywood actress Parineeti Chopra at Leela Palace. Raghav Chadha and Parineeti Chopra will reach Udaipur airport on Friday as the wedding rituals start before the big day on September 24.

Along with the couple, their family members and friends will also be present. In this royal wedding, 100 private security guards have been deployed.

Hotel Leela Palace is situated in the middle of Lake Pichola. So, security guards will be deployed on four to five boats in the middle of the lake. Special security has also been deployed at the jetty (platform built till the boat) here.

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, other politicians of the country will be attending this wedding. The CMs of Delhi and Punjab will reach Udaipur on Saturday evening. Apart from this, Parineeti's cousin, actress Priyanka Chopra and her husband Nick Jonas and many big celebrities of Bollywood will be in attendance.

Sources confirmed that celebrities like Karan Johar, tennis player Sania Mirza, designer Manish Malhotra will also come to Udaipur on Saturday for this wedding.

According to hotel sources, special preparations have been made to ensure that photos and videos of the event do not go out along with the preparations for the wedding. Blue colored tape will be pasted on the mobile cameras of those entering the hotel so that they cannot take any video-photograph during the wedding ceremony.

The special thing about this blue tape is that once it is applied on the mobile camera, if someone removes it, an arrow symbol will be visible on the tape. With this, when checked by security, it will be known that the tape has been removed to use the camera.

This restriction will especially apply to hotel staff as well as those for tents, decorations, sound systems, and chefs.

Kerala HC Dissolves Marriage After 38 Years

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 22: The Kerala High Court has intervened and decided to dissolve a marriage that was on the rocks for the past 38 years.

The court pointed out that retaining a marriage that has irretrievably broken down would amount to cruelty to both parties, and no meaningful purpose would be served by the same and rode on an apex court judgment which said keeping parties together despite irretrievable breakdown of marriage amounts to cruelty on both sides.

The court came to the conclusion when an elderly appellant, who is the husband of the respondent, filed the present appeal on being aggrieved by the dismissal of the plea for divorce on the ground of cruelty by a family court.

The beleaguered man claimed that the marriage had irretrievably broken down and the refusal to issue consent for mutual separation ought to be treated as cruelty.

He also emphasized that he had been neglected by his wife and two children, and that he had not even been invited to the wedding of his son.

The respondent, however, denied the allegations levelled against her, and submitted that minor bickering in the marriage could not be treated as cruelty.

The Family Court found the allegations as not constituting any mental or physical cruelty to grant a decree of divorce, and dismissed the plea.

However, the high court noted that the marriage, now 38 years old, could not be revived.

It also took note that the appellant was living alone.

Finally, the Court relying upon the Supreme Court went forward and said, "retaining the marriage itself is a cruelty to both the parties and no meaningful purpose would be served," opined the court and allowed the appeal and dissolved the marriage between the parties.
