Bridgetown, July 1: After winning the T20 World Cup 2024, Rohit Sharma-led Team India has been stranded in Barbados due to a hurricane warning.

The Men in Blue got hold of the prestigious T20 WC trophy for the second time, defeating South Africa by seven runs in Barbados.

Currently, the Men in Blue are staying at the Hilton Hotel and Hurricane Beryl will pass by Barbados on Sunday night local time for which the airport has been closed. Curfew has been imposed in the city due to the hurricane.

Speaking to the reporters, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah said that they are 'stuck' in Barbados and will think about the felicitation once the travel plans are clear.

"Like you we are also stuck here. After the travel plans are clear, we will think about the felicitation," Shah was quoted by ESPNcricinfo as saying.

Summarising the final match of the tournament, India won the toss and opted to bat first. After being reduced to 34/3, a counter-attacking partnership between Virat (76) and Axar Patel (47 in 31 balls, with one four and four sixes) of 72 runs restored India's position in the game. A 57-run stand between Virat and Shivam Dube (27 in 16 balls, with three fours and a six) took India to 176/7 in their 20 overs.

Keshav Maharaj (2/23) and Anrich Nortje (2/26) were the top bowlers for SA. Marco Jansen and Aiden Markram took a wicket each.

In the run chase of 177 runs, Proteas was reduced to 12/2 and then a 58-run partnership between Quinton de Kock (39 in 31 balls, with four boundaries and a six) and Tristan Stubbs (31 in 21 balls, with three fours and a six) brought back SA into the game.

A half-century by Heinrich Klaasen (52 in 27 balls, with two fours and five sixes) threatened to take the game away from India.

However, Arshdeep Singh (2/18), Jasprit Bumrah (2/20) and Hardik (3/20) made a fine comeback in death overs, keeping SA to 169/8 in their 20 overs.

Virat secured the 'Player of the Match' for his performance. Now, by securing their first ICC title since the Champions Trophy in 2013, India has ended their ICC trophy drought.

ISRO's Aditya-L1 completes first halo orbit around Sun-Earth L1 point in 178 days

New Delhi, July 3: India's first solar mission Aditya-L1 spacecraft completed its first halo orbit around the Sun-Earth L1 point on Tuesday, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) said in a statement.

The Aditya-L1 mission is an Indian solar observatory at Lagrangian point L1, launched on September 2 last year and was inserted in its targeted halo orbit on January 6.

Aditya-L1 spacecraft in the Halo orbit takes 178 days to complete a revolution around the L1 point.

During its travel in the halo orbit, the spacecraft will be subjected to various perturbing forces that will cause it to depart from the targeted orbit, the ISRO stated.

Further, it underwent two station-keeping manoeuvres on February 22 and June 7, respectively, to maintain this orbit.

Today's third station-keeping manoeuvre has ensured that its travel continued into the second halo orbit path around L1.

"This journey of Aditya L1 around Sun-Earth L1 Lagrangian point involves modelling of complex dynamics," it said.

The understanding of various perturbing forces acting on the spacecraft helped in determining the trajectory accurately and planning precise orbit manoeuvres.

However, with today's manoeuvre, the state-of-the-art flight dynamics software developed in-house at URSC-ISRO for the Aditya-L1 missions stands fully validated, according to the ISRO.

Further, the ISRO detailed the trajectories marked in the figure.

The blue trajectory, in the figure, is the orbit around the Lagrangian point L1. This trajectory is a 3-dimensional trajectory, and what is shown is the projection of it in the X-Y plane.

"SK#1, 2 & 3 are the Station Keeping maneuvers by the Aditya-L1 spacecraft. The final firing of the thrusters, ie. SK#3 on July 2, placed the spacecraft back in the required orbit," it stated.

Moreover, if an accurate firing was not done, the spacecraft would have moved away in a trajectory shown in green colour.
The X-Y axes are marked in the distance of km, with Lagrangian point L1 at the origin, it added.

UP doctors remove 5.5 kg tumour from woman's kidney

Lucknow, July 3: Doctors at Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS) in Lucknow have successfully removed a 5.5 kg tumour from a patient's kidney, they said.

According to reports, it is the second heaviest kidney tumour to be removed in India.

The patient is expected to be discharged next week.

The surgery, performed on June 27, took four hours and involved a complex procedure to extract the tumour that had spread to a major vein.

The patient, Madhuri, 56, a resident of Sahjana village in Uttar Pradesh's Hardoi, had been suffering from severe stomach pain for two years before receiving a diagnosis at RMLIMS.

Madhuri had sought treatment from various hospitals without relief before her family brought her to RMLIMS.

Doctors at the Urology department recommended a CT scan, which disclosed a 30-cm tumour in her left kidney.

Alok Srivastava, lead surgeon, RMLIMS, noted that the tumour had spread to a major vein, the inferior vena cava, responsible for transporting deoxygenated blood from the lower extremities and abdomen back to the heart.

"It is the second heaviest kidney tumour removed in India. The heaviest, weighing six kg, was removed at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in Delhi in 2019," Srivastava said.

The removal of a 5.4 kg kidney tumour from a 28-year-old woman at Sion Hospital in Mumbai in 2016 is recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records.
