Odisha Naval Tata Hockey HPC beat Sports Authority of Gujarat Academy, Baroda 5-1 in their Pool B match. Chetna Rani Das (4’, 6’, 47’) led Odisha Naval Tata Hockey HPC’s goal-scoring efforts with a hat-trick while captain Komal Gurjar (13’, 30’) pitched in with a brace. The only goal for Sports Authority of Gujarat Academy Baroda was scored by Thakre Arpana (54’).

In the last match of Phase 1, Centre of Excellence Jharkhand defeated Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy 2-1. Centre of Excellence Jharkhand took the lead through Saroj Kumari (11’) and Sweety Dungdung (29’). Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy pulled a goal back through Bhumiksha Sahu (37’) but failed to change the outcome.

Earlier, Centre of Excellence Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy and SAI Bal emerged victorious in their respective games on the sixth day of the event being played in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.

Centre of Excellence Jharkhand beat Odisha Naval Tata Hockey HPC 7-0 in their Pool B encounter while Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy registered a comfortable 20-0 victory against Citizen Hockey XI in Pool B.

The father of the woman and some retired senior Army officers were also present during the meeting held at the Lok Seva Bhawan here.

After the meeting with CM Majhi, the woman said, “Today CM Mohan Majhi has proved that he is a people’s Chief Minister in the true sense. He is in a true sense a people’s man.”

The victim’s father, who is also a retired Brigadier of the Indian Army, told media persons that the Odisha government has ordered a judicial probe and a court-monitored Crime Branch investigation into the matter, so they are hopeful of getting justice in the matter.

He also thanked CM Majhi and the government for listening to the woman and the Army officer and fulfilling all their requests.

Speaking of the viral videos related to his daughter, he said those who were guilty were releasing selective video clips aiming at character assassination of his daughter and he requested the government to take action against the people responsible for this.

Meanwhile, Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan reiterated that the state government was following the policy of ‘zero-tolerance’ towards any incidents of crimes against women.

He said that after the issue came to the fore, CM Majhi constituted a minister-level committee comprising Deputy CMs KV Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari and himself.

The committee heard the grievances and the demands of the victim, her family and Army veterans during a meeting at the state guest house on Sunday evening.

Later, the state government took the decision to order a judicial enquiry into the matter.

Besides, the state government also requested the Orissa High Court to supervise the Crime Branch investigation into the matter.

Harichandan stated that Army veterans, the victim woman and Army officer met the Chief Minister to thank him for fulfilling their demands.

CM Majhi had on Sunday ordered a judicial enquiry presided over by retired Justice Chitta Ranjan Dash into the matter related to the alleged police custodial torture of the Army officer and the torture and alleged molestation of his fiancee at Bharatpur Police Station September 15.

At closing, Sensex was up 384 points, or 0.45 per cent, at 84,928 and Nifty was up 148 points, or 0.57 per cent, at 25,939.

Large buying was seen in the midcap and smallcap stock compared to largecap.

The Nifty Midcap 100 index closed at 60,712, up 503 points, or 0.84 per cent, and the Nifty Smallcap 100 index closed at 19,548, up 216 points or 1.12 per cent.

Among the sectoral indices, Auto, PSU Bank, fin services, pharma, FMCG, metal, realty, energy and infra were major gainers. Only the IT index closed in the red.

In the Sensex pack, M&M, SBI, Bharti Airtel, Kotak Mahindra Bank, HUL, UltraTech Cement, Tata Steel, HDFC Bank, NTPC, and Nestle were the top gainers. ICICI Bank, IndusInd Bank, Asian Paints, Tech Mahindra, Wipro, HCL Tech, Infosys, TCS, L&T, Sun Pharma, and Power Grid were the top losers.

On the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), 2,385 shares closed in the green, 1,728 shares in the red, and 120 shares closed without any change. At the end of the trading session, the market cap of BSE had increased to Rs 476 lakh crore.

Vikram Kasat, Head - Advisory, PL Capital - Prabhudas Lilladher said: "The Indian markets continued their uptrend following the US Federal Reserve's recent decision to cut interest rates by 50 basis points, boosting global sentiment and pushing the Nifty index to a new record high above 25,900. While some profit-booking occurred in sectors like IT, these corrections were expected after their earlier rally."

"Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) maintained long positions in the index, further supporting the rally. Meanwhile, oil prices showed a slight recovery, and wholesale inflation data indicated moderation, which could influence market trends going forward," Kasat added.

As per provisional figures, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs)/Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 14,064.05 crore and domestic institutional investors sold shares worth a net Rs 4,427.08 crore on 20th September 2024.
