The Special Judge, Vigilance has sentenced Purna Chandra Dash to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of two years and to pay a fine of Rs 5,000 and in default of payment of the fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of one month for the offense under section 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
Dash had been arrested for the illegal appointment of Junior Clerks and Amin without taking into consideration the claims of senior work charge employees or senior NMR employees having requisite qualifications for the post of junior clerk and amin.
According to the information, the Vigilance officials will now move the competent authority for the stoppage of the pension of Dash following his conviction.
Santosh Kumar Mishra, Ex-DSP, Vigilance, Berhampur Division investigated the case and Surendra Panda, special public prosecutor, Vigilance, Berhampur conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.
