The houses belonged to six families. Except dresses they had worn, nothing could be brought to outside as the fire spread in night hours.
“We could not bring out paddy, rice, household articles, furniture and hard cash as we knew about the fire at the last moment and, thus, preferred to save our life first,” said Kartika Das.
Fire spread at 3 am and the reason behind the incident is yet to be known.

On being informed, fire personnel rushed to the spot and extinguished the fare after an hour’s attempt.
Villagers have demanded that the affected families be compensated fully by the State Government.
