The incident, occurred three days ahead of civic elections, has triggered sharp reactions among Congress’ local leaders and supporters. “Opponents have committed the crime,” said a brother of the Congress Councillor candidate.
“Opponents have been jealous of the popularity of our candidate. They have become violent and set our office on fire in fear of defeat,” said Congress’ Chairperson candidate Gunanidhi Pradhan.
