The star campaigners of ruling BJD, Opposition BJP and Congress are holding election meetings in several places of the assembly constituency to woo the voters.
Amid the high voltage campaigning, the residents of Dhaneswar village under Kamethi gram panchayat in Jharbandh block under Padampur Assembly constituency have reiterated their demand for all-weather road connectivity to their village.
Speaking to Argus News, the villagers said that they have been facing problems for decades due to lack of motorable road to their village.
“In the absence of all-weather road, ambulances cannot reach the villages on time. During rainy season, we have to carry the patients and expectant mothers on cot or sling to reach the hospital,” said a villager.
Another resident of Dhaneswar village said that political leaders come to their village just before the election and promise to construct motorable road but after election, the elected MLAs forget all their assurance. “No sitting MLA has ever visited to our village till date,” he claimed.
Like Dhaneswar, several villages under Padampur Assembly constituency lack all-weather road connectivity, locals said.
The voting for the Padampur by-poll will be held on December 5 and the counting of votes will take place on December 8.
The by-poll has been necessitated due to the death of sitting MLA Bijaya Ranjan Singh Bariha on October 3.
