Laba Hansda, a tribal lad from Odisha's Mayurbhanj, has proved it again by spreading the tentacles of the spirit of championing one's own dream. He dreamt of being famous and became famous.
Laba, a 10th-Class drop-out, has already travelled to 40 countries in his attempts to become famous. He has earned a popular name for himself- a traveling vlogger.
"I dreamt of being famous. I worked accordingly. To become a travelling blogger, I have visited 40 countries from Ethiopia To China," Laba told Argus New in a podcast.
He said he feels happy to meet tribal communities worldwide.
Laba was not born with a silver spoon. There was a day when his mother would make and sell Handia (One type of country liquor) and his father would work as an agricultural labour to meet the family's daily basic needs. He even helped his mother many times in preparing Handia.
In 2013, Laba worked in a hotel in Bhadrak to earn a livelihood. His work was to lift plates from dining tables and clean them with water. "I was getting Rs 300 per month," said Laba.
He moved to Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, and Kolkata to earn a livelihood. In Kolkata, he worked for a rubber company. His performance was so good that the owner opted to promote him as production manager of his company. But he turned down his proposal as his willingness to be famous had already deeply covered his mind.
"I wanted to visit tribal communities and study their culture, penury, and lifestyle. I first visited Ethiopia, an East African country. I then moved to many African countries, and then China, Russia, etc.
"It is much more enjoyable to meet different communities in different countries," said an elated Laba.
He said he also risked his life travelling unknowingly with Taliban militants in a cab in Afghanistan. He narrated his adventurous journey with Argus News in the podcast.
When asked which countries he intends to visit again, Laba said, "I would love to visit Ethiopia and China. Ethiopia is 50 years back and China is 50 years ahead in terms of development compared to our country. I would love to see Ethiopian people develop and to learn development mentality from Chinese people," contended Laba.
Asked about his present income, Laba said he earns about Rs 1.5 lakh per month.
