The Sambalpuri Din marks the birth anniversary of eminent poet Guru Satyanarayan Bohidar, who had contributed immensely to the Sambalpuri literature and culture. The day is being celebrated with great enthusiasm at many places in Odisha and abroad, showcashing Sambalpuri art and culture.

In his video message, Pradhan said, "Today is August 1- 'Sambalpuri Din' (Sambalpuri Day) which marks the birth anniversary of Sambalpuri poet Guru Satnarayan Bohidar. My greetings to all on the occasion of Sambalpuri Day. I also extend my humble tribute to Guru Satyanarayan Bohidar on this occasion. His dedication and sacrifices in enhancing the dignity of Sambalpuri language, culture and literature will always be remembered."

"With the blessings of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the 'Rangabati Centre of Excellence’ has been established at IIM Sambalpur to conduct research on literature and history of Sambalpuri culture. It is indeed a matter of pride and happiness," Pradhan said.
The Minister called upon one and all to popularise the rich culture of Sambalpur region and spread brotherhood among the people. "Sambalpuri culture tells us about how to be happy with others' happiness. Let's spread brotherhood among the people," he said.
Born in Subarnapur on August 1, 1913, Bohidar is the pioneer of the Sambalpuri or Kosali language and grammar. On his 100th birth anniversary in 2013, the administration started celebrating the day as 'Sambalpuri Din'.
