According to the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre, six places in the State recorded 40 degree Celsius temperature and above at 2.30 PM.
Bhubaneswar was the hottest place of the State with 41.9 degree Celsius, followed by Chandabali which stood at 41.6 , Jharsuguda at 41.4 degree Celsius, Balasore at 40 degree Celsius, Rourkela at 39.9 degree Celsius, Hirakud at 39.5 degree Celsius, Gopalpur at 35.6 degree Celsius, Puri at 34.8 degree Celsius, Paradip at 34.2 degree Celsius.

The IMD issued a yellow warning of heat wave conditions for several districts for the next five days.
"Heat wave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Balasore, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Khordha, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Koraput and Malkangiri till 8.30 AM of Wednesday,"
Similarly, a yellow alert of heat wave conditions has been issued for several districts till April 20.
People have been advised to take precautionary measures while going outside during day time between 11 AM to 3 PM.
