Bhubaneswar, June 20: With all eyes on the upcoming Odisha Budget 2024-25, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has urged people to offer their suggestions and feedbacks.

Majhi termed the current government as "people's governement" saying public feedback is very important in preparing the budget.

"The Finance Department has always taken the feedbacks from the representatives of different sections of the society into consideration for the pre-budget preparation. The current government is people's government," the Chief Minister said.

"Therefore, getting public feedback is necessary for budget preparation. Budget preparation needs to be made more open and participatory through information and communication technology," Majhi said further.

The CM has requested the people to send their feedbacks through a special web portal of the Finance Department, through e-mail, WhatsApp and SMS.

The Finance Department has requested the public, civil society, civil society organisations and other stakeholders to actively participate in the budget preparation of the state government.

How to send your suggestions/feedbacks:

The Finance Department has invited suggestions on a specific framework to gather feedback from the public for the preparation of the Long Term Budget 2024-25, which is available in the web portal -- https://budget.odisha.gov.in/.

You can send your suggestions through the email -- odisha.budget@gov.in.

Budget-related feedbacks can also be sent through WhatsApp (+91 9438161111), social medias -- 'X' (@FdOdisha), Facebook (@FinanceOdisha) and Instagram (@fdodisha).

The facility will be available from June 20 (Thursday) to July 5 (Friday).

Jamtara fraudster arrested for Rs. 2 lakh phishing scam

Jamtara, June 27: The staff of Cyber Cell, South West District Police Station, arrested a fraudster, Amrul Ansari, 24, from Jamtara, Jharkhand, for cheating victims through phishing links.

Ansari tricked victims by posing as customer care representatives and persuading them to transfer money.

On 19th March 2024, Neelam Gupta from Anand Niketan from Delhi filed a complaint after losing around Rs. 2 lakh. She received a call about a delayed Indian Post parcel and was asked to make a payment of Rs. 3 through a link sent via WhatsApp. After entering her details, Rs. 1,79,000 and Rs. 21,000 were debited from her account.

Investigations revealed the money was transferred to a Canara Bank account in Mumbai.

Technical analysis traced the fraud to Jamtara, revealing multiple SIM cards active in one device linked to Ansari.

A police team conducted raids in Jamtara, arresting Ansari and recovering four smartphones with SIM cards.

Ansari admitted his involvement in the crime and had a prior cyber fraud case.

Further analysis found two more complaints linked to him on the MHA Portal.

Earlier on May 9, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman urged the Jharkhand government and fintech companies to redirect the state's talent involved in cybercrimes towards ethical hacking.

Addressing the Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce in Ranchi, she emphasized the potential for financial regulators and the government to engage these individuals in combating cyber fraud.

From 2019 to July 2023, Jharkhand reported 5,350 cybercrime cases, with significant numbers in Ranchi, Dhanbad, Deoghar, Jamshedpur, and Hazaribagh. Despite a slight decrease, the state recorded 967 cybercrime cases in 2022, ranking second highest in the country.

Notably, Jamtara dubbed the "phishing capital of India," accounts for 2.4% of national cybercrimes.

In response, the Jharkhand Police established a Cyber Crime Police Station in 2016 to address serious cybercrimes.
Sitharaman also highlighted that corruption and lack of infrastructure hinder Jharkhand's progress, wasting the state's talent.

Sung by Suhit Abhyankar, Sagar Bhatia, and Neeti Mohan, and composed by Suhit Abhyankar, "Khudaya" marks a refreshing return of qawwali to the movies. 'Khudaya' is a glimpse into the emotional depth and narrative richness that 'Sarfira' encapsulates.

His performance has received praise, with director Suriya expressing his gratitude on social media. Suriya, who makes a guest appearance in the film, shared his admiration for Akshay Kumar's dedication to bringing this inspiring story to the screen.

Georgetown (Guyana), June 27: Unbeaten India are geared up to face the defending champions England in the second semifinal of the T20 World Cup, eyeing to avenge the 10-wicket drubbing against the Jos Buttler-led side in the semifinal of the 2022 edition.

India have not won a T20 World Cup since lifting the inaugural edition of the tournament in 2007. They last won the ODI World Cup in 2011 and have not won any World Cup title since then. However, India's last ICC title came in the 2013 Champions Trophy where MS Dhoni-led side outclassed England in the final.

Whereas, the defending champions are clinging to their hopes of going all the way and becoming the first men’s team to win back-to-back T20 World Cup titles.

The last time these two nations faced off in a Men’s T20 World Cup semifinal was just 19 months ago in Adelaide when a remarkable opening partnership between Jos Buttler and Alex Hales saw England cruise to victory to clinch their second title.

Interestingly, the two teams will face off in the second semifinal in Guyana on Thursday, just like in 2022.

India have won every game they’ve been able to compete in, with the only dropped points coming from the abandoned fixture against Canada at a rain-soaked Lauderhill.

England, on the other hand, has had a hot-and-cold campaign, with impressive wins and unexpected losses, and has fought tooth and nail to qualify for the semifinals.

India and England have met four times in the T20 World Cup, winning two each. Overall, India holds a narrow edge in the T20I head-to-head record with 12-11.
