According to the information, a complaint was lodged at the Odagaon police station that the husband of the local Sarpanch raped a woman in Giridipalli village. Though a few days have passed since the complaint was lodged, police have not arrested the accused yet.
As police didn't rise to action despite repeated requests, the Nayagarh BJP staged the road blockade today and gheraoed the PS. Pratyusha Rajeshwari Singh led the protest.
Further, the party burnt an effigy of local MLA Arun Sahu alleging that he protected the culprit. Tension ran high as a scuffle erupted between BJP workers and police during the protest.
"Police should take action against the accused and the protector. The victim should be given justice without delay," Singh demanded.
