The woman, identified as Bijayalaxmi Rath, said that the chain weighs around 30 grams.
The incident happened near Maa Mangala Temple in Irrigation Colony in Jeypore. However, the nearby locals, reacting to the shouting of the victim, rushed to the spot and managed to capture one of the miscreants.
The other accused managed to flee from the scene with the chain. The locals have handed over the captured miscreant to the police.
Police have reportedly interrogated the captured miscreant and searching for the main accused. The detained accused has been identified as a local and a native of Gopabandhu Nagar.
The locals have raised concerns over the matter. As per the report, multiple cases of chain snatching have been reported in Jeypore and the numbers are growing.
People have urged the police to take strict action against those miscreants and strengthen the security in Jeypore.
