The accidents took place on National Highway 57 (NH 57) -- Khordha-Balangir highway -- at Chakapada market under Begunia police station in Khordha district. The injured persons have been admitted to Khordha Hospital.
As per the report, the car hit multiple persons on the highway. It is still unclear whether the driver did it intentionally or he was under the influence of alcohol.
Begunia police have detained the driver and seized the car. However, the incident has triggered tension in the area. The angry locals have blocked the road in protest.
