The IMD predicted widespread rainfall activity accompanied by thunderstorms with lightning at many places in Odisha during the next five days.
It issued orange and yellow weather warnings for several districts of the State till May 21. It also forecast light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at many places in the State during the next five days.
The IMD’s weather forecast for Odisha during next five days is as follows:
Day 1 (Valid Upto 8.30 AM of May 18)
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Nayagarh, Khordha, Puri, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri and at one or two places over the districts of north coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Nabarangpur.
Yellow Warning (To be updated)
Thunderstorms with lightning are very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Khurda and Dhenkanal.
Day 2 (Valid from 8.30 AM of May 18 to 8.30 AM of May 19)
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of north Odisha, South coastal Odisha, Kandhamal, Kalahandi and Boudh.
Yellow Warning (To be updated)
Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj,Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Angul, Dhenkanal and Deogarh.
Day 3 (Valid from 8.30 AM of May 19 to 8.30 AM of May 20)
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely to occur at most places in the State.
Orange Warning (Be Prepared)
Thunderstorm with lightning and hail accompanied with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 KMPH is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Boudh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Balangir, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Angul, Nayagarh, Dhenkanal.
Thunderstorms with lightning & heavy rainfall are likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Ganjam and Khordha.
Yellow Warning (To be updated)
Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 KMPH is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Gajapati, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Koraput, Malkangiri, Sonepur and Sambalpur.
Day 4 (Valid from 8.30 AM of May 20 to 8.30 AM of May 21)
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely to occur at most places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, Koraput, Malkangiri, Kandhamal and at many places over rest districts of South Odisha and at a few places over the districts of North Interior Odisha.

Thunderstorms with lightning & heavy rainfall are likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Cuttack, Nayagarh, Khordha and Kandhamal.
Yellow Warning (To be updated)
Thunderstorms with lightning accompanied with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 KMPH are very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Ganjam, Gajapati, Puri and Jagatsinghpur.
Day 5 (Valid from 8.30 AM of May 21 to 8.30 AM of May 22)
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur and Dhenkanal.
Meanwhile, light to moderate rainfall has occurred at a few places over the districts of Interior Odisha and at one or two places over the districts of Coastal Odisha during the last 24 hours.
Today, the highest maximum temperature of 37.7 degree Celsius was recorded at Boudh and the lowest minimum temperature of 19.5 degree Celsius was recorded at Nabarangpur, said the IMD's latest bulletin.
