The IMD Regional Centre, Bhubaneswar issued an Orange warning of heavy rainfall (7cm to 11cm) over the districts of Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh and Gajapati till 8.30 am of Thursday.
It also issued yellow alert of thunderstorm with lightning over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri during the period.
The weathermen also forecast that light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of coastal Odisha, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal and at many places over the districts of Keonjhar, Angul, Boudh, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri and at a few places over the rest districts of the State during the next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, heavy rain lashed many places in the State in the last 24 hours. Several areas in Cuttack and other places were waterlogged, while commuters in some areas found tough times to reach their destination due to the unseasonal rainfall.
People have been advised to keep watch on weather and take safe shelter during the thunderstorm activity to protect from lightning and follow traffic advisories in urban areas.
