"Under the influence of cyclonic circulation over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjoining westcentral Bay of Bengal, a low pressure area has formed over westcentral and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh-south Odisha coasts and associated cyclonic circulation extends upto 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height," the Met Centre said in a post in its 'X' handle.

"It is likely to move northwards slowly in next two days," the post added.
The Met Centre also predicted rainfall in coastal and south Odisha, starting Thursday. The meteorological department also issued a warning to several districts for September 9 over thunderstorm.

Yellow alert has been issued to 18 districts -- Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khorda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Nuapada and Balangir -- for thunder and lightning.

There is chance of heavy rain in South Odisha, September 6. Met Centre has issued Yellow Alert to 12 districts over thunderstorm.
Nine districts -- Puri, Khorda, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Nayagarh, Angul and Dhenkanal -- have been issued yellow alert for heavy rain on Ganesh Puja.
