According to the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre, Baripada continued to remain the hottest place in the state for the second consecutive day, while mercury levels soared to over 43 degree Celsius at nine places in the state.
Baripada was followed by Nuapada at 42.4 degree Celsius, Talcher at 43.8 degree Celsius, Jharsuguda at 43.6 degree Celsius, Keonjhar at 43.6 degree Celsius, Angul at 43.3 degree Celsius, Balangir at 43.2 degree Celsius, Sundargarh and Boudh each at 43 degree Celsius.
As many as 30 places in the state recorded the day temperature at or above 40 degree Celsius.
The mercury level in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack was 41.6 degree Celsius each.
The Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre forecast that heat wave conditions will prevail in Odisha till April 23.
The weather department issued orange and yellow warnings of heat wave conditions for several districts in the state during the next three days.
