Sambalpur, Oct 7: Three intern medical students were injured as a group clash erupted during a programme at the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Burla in Sambalpur district late on Sunday night.
A Utsav was underway when two groups of students indulged in a quarrel. Following arguments, they clashed and three intern students were injured.
On being informed, VIMSAR Director and local police reached the spot and talked to the angry students. Normalcy was restored after talks.
However, the exact reason behind the group fight is not known yet.
VIMSAR authorities and police have kept vigil and are taking steps to ensure that the situation doesn't escalate further.

New Delhi, Oct 7: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President of the Maldives Mohamed Muizzu held extensive bilateral talks on Monday, aiming to forge a comprehensive economic and maritime security partnership. Both leaders acknowledged the shared challenges in the Indian Ocean Region.
They committed to enhancing maritime and security cooperation, with India pledging to provide expertise, boost capabilities, and engage in joint measures to help the Maldives address both traditional and non-traditional maritime threats. These include piracy, illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, drug trafficking, and terrorism within their Exclusive Economic Zone.
Both nations also agreed that India would support the timely completion of the Maldives National Defence Force's (MNDF) 'Ekatha' harbour project at Uthuru Thila Falhu (UTF).
In addition, India agreed to construct a state-of-the-art building for the Maldivian Ministry of Defence (MoD) in Male, while also increasing the capacity for training and development of the MNDF, Maldives Police Services (MPS), and other Maldivian security organisations under the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) programme.
The recent signing of the Charter of the Colombo Security Conclave (CSC), with India and the Maldives as founding members, further reinforced their mutual commitment to ensuring a safe, secure, and peaceful Indian Ocean Region.
Beyond defence cooperation, India will also launch initiatives to promote women-led development for Maldivian women entrepreneurs and establish a Start-up Incubator-Accelerator in the Maldives to nurture youth potential and boost the island nation's economy.
President Muizzu, who arrived in India on Sunday for a five-day visit, was given a ceremonial reception at Rashtrapati Bhavan earlier today.
President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the Maldivian President and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed upon their arrival at Rashtrapati Bhavan. (ANI)

Stockholm, Oct 7: The Nobel Assembly at Sweden's Karolinska Institutet on Monday awarded the 2024 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine jointly to American scientists Victor Ambros and Gary Ruvkun for the discovery of microRNA and its role in post-transcriptional gene regulation.
Ambros and Ruvkun discovered a fundamental principle governing how gene activity is regulated.
They discovered microRNA -- a new class of tiny RNA molecules that play a crucial role in gene regulation. Their groundbreaking findings unravelled a completely new principle of gene regulation that turned out to be essential for multicellular organisms, including humans.
Their findings showed that the human genome codes for over one thousand microRNAs. These are also proving to be fundamentally important for how organisms develop and function.
"Whereas proteins in the nucleus regulate RNA transcription and splicing, microRNAs control the translation and degradation of mRNA in the cytoplasm," the academy said. "This unexpected layer of post-transcriptional gene regulation has critical importance throughout animal development and in adult cell types and is essential for complex multicellular life," it added.
The scientists duo will receive a joint prize sum of 11 million Swedish crowns ($1.1 million).
Born in 1953 in New Hampshire, Ambros received his PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge, MA, in 1979 where he also did postdoctoral research from 1979-1985. He is currently Silverman Professor of Natural Science at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, Worcester, MA. Ruvkun was born in California in 1952. He received his PhD from Harvard University in 1982. He is now the Professor of Genetics at Harvard Medical School.
The prestigious award is given annually by the Nobel Assembly consisting of 50 professors at Karolinska Institutet, recognising personnel who have made significant contributions to the field of medicine for the benefit of humankind. (IANS)

Earlier, Rohit Shetty put a full stop to rumours about a delay in the release of his film 'Singham Again'. He took to his social media platform Instagram to clarify.
Rohit stated that 'Singham 3' will roar only on Diwali. He also dropped a video from the sets, hinting at the major cameo in the film.
The video shows Rohit directing an action-packed scene involving cars. "SINGHAM is incomplete without this HERO...ISS DIWALI Scorpio aayegi bhi,Ghumegi bhi, LEKIN ENTRY KISI AUR KI HOGI...," he wrote.
