Fresh Low Pressure Over Bay of Bengal To Trigger Heavy Rainfall In Odisha Over Next 4 Days: IMD

Shah will inaugurate the 'Bharatiya Bhasha Anubhag' while attending the inaugural session of official language Diamond Jubilee celebrations and the 4th Akhil Bharatiya Rajbhasha Sammelan being organised by Department of Official Language on September 14-15 here in the national capital to commemorate the completion of 75 years of Hindi becoming the official language, a statement said.

Keeping in view the intent of the Constitution and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's direction, a Home Ministry statement mentioned, the Department of Official Language of Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had proposed to establish Bharatiya Bhasha Anubhag with the objective of promoting the use of Indian languages along with Hindi and establishing better coordination between them.

Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and under the able guidance of Union Home Minister, the Official Language Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs is organising Akhil Bharatiya Rajbhasha Sammelan every year since 2021, the statement said.

At the event, Shah will launch the Diamond Jubilee Special Issue of 'Rajbhasha Bharti' magazine. He will also launch a commemorative postage stamp and coin to make the Diamond Jubilee memorable. The Home Minister will also present the Rajbhasha Gaurav and Rajbhasha Kirti Awards on this occasion. Along with this, some more books and magazines will be released.

Union Home Minister had conceptualised organising Hindi Diwas on a large scale in various cities of the country in the year 2019. Realising this concept, Hindi Diwas and the first Akhil Bharatiya Rajbhasha Sammelan were organised in Varanasi in 2021. After that, Hindi Diwas and the second and third Akhil Bharatiya Rajbhasha Sammelan were organised in Surat in 2022 and Pune in 2023. These events have infused new energy among the Official Language personnel and officers across the country.

Organising the Hindi Diwas event and the Fourth Akhil Bharatiya Rajbhasha Sammelan in the National Capital is also special in the sense that the Official Language Department is celebrating this occasion as the Diamond Jubilee. The 75-year journey of Hindi becoming an official language has not only crossed many important milestones but also made continuous progress in the field of technology.

In the two-day 4th Akhil Bharatiya Rajbhasha Sammelan, an in-depth discussion will be held on the progress of Hindi as an official language, public language, and contact language in the last 75 years.

In the post-lunch session on the first day of the conference on September 14, there will be a discussion on 'Official Language Diamond Jubilee - Progress of Hindi as an official language, public language and contact language in 75 years'. While the second session will be 'India's cultural heritage and Hindi', which will be addressed by popular Hindi poet and orator, Dr Kumar Vishwas.

In the third session of the conference on September 15, the country's famous linguists and lexicographers will present their views on 'Role of dictionary in language teaching and specialty of Devanagari script'. The fourth session will be on 'Contribution of "Town Official Language Committee" in the implementation of official language Hindi in the era of technology'.

The fifth session will be on 'Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita 2023, Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita 2023 and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam 2023: A Discussion', which will be addressed by Union Minister of Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal. The last session will be 'Indian cinema, a powerful medium for the development of Hindi language', which will be addressed by renowned actor Anupam Kher and well-known film producer and director Chandraprakash Dwivedi.

More than 10,000 participants are expected to attend the two-day conference, which includes Rajbahasa officials from all over the country as well as Hindi scholars and senior officials of the Central government. (ANI)

The accused identified as Biranchi Narayan Nath is a resident of Chhendipada in Angul District of Odisha.

Based on the complaint lodged by one of the victims who hails from Cuttack district, the crime branch on Thursday registered a case against accused Nath. The accused was arrested on Friday and will be brought to court on Saturday. 

The victim who lost her husband to a road accident in 2022 has been staying in Cuttack along with her family and two daughters. With an aim to remarry so as to ensure a safe and secure future for herself and her children, the victim widow October last year opened a profile in the same matrimonial portal where the accused has a profile as well.

The crime branch sources revealed that the accused created the profile under the tagline "Second Marriage," and disguised himself as a Railway Employee, Income Tax Inspector or Officer in Customs & Central Excise Department etc. He also used to dupe the victims with multiple names such as Manas Ratha, Pravakar Srivastav and Biranchi Narayan Nath etc.

“She received a request from one Pravakar Srivastav, aged 43, from Khamar, Talcher. He claimed to be a TTI in Railways at Visakhapatnam. He stated that he had lost his wife and mother and was living with his father, who he claimed was a manager at SBI in Rourkela. On October 7, 2023, Pravakar visited the victim’s home and expressed his desire to proceed with the marriage proposal,” said a senior crime branch official on Friday.

Meanwhile, the accused, who managed to clandestinely capture the victim’s nude videos during video calls, forced her to visit multiple trips outside Odisha and have a sexual relationship with him. The accused stayed at the victim’s house for five months after they got married. He used to physically abuse the victim and also extracted Rs 5 lakhs and 32 grams of gold from her.

The victim eventually discovered that Pravakar was involved in similar relationships with other women, prompting her to report the matter to the authorities.

During the course of investigation, the cops ascertained that the accused used to trap middle aged women who were unmarried, separated, widows or divorced women on matrimonial sites through his fake identity and disguising himself as senior government officers.

The crime branch official also revealed that the accused also promised many of his victims to get them job after marriage. He underwent marriage rituals with many of his victims in temples and later cohabited with them at their home but never took any of them to his own place. He used to capture objectionable videos and photos of the victims and later extort money from them.

During the investigation, police found that he had defrauded numerous other women and cases have been registered against him at various police stations in Berhampur, Angul, Balasore, Rourkela, Dhenkanal and Bhubaneswar. The accused has also been involved in similar cases in Rajasthan, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and Delhi.  (IANS)

Prof. Nanda said this while addressing the students who had completed their education in B.Sc Agriculture (Hons) and M.Sc Agriculture from the Institute of Agricultureal Sciences (IAS), faculty of agricultural sciences of SOA at a graduation ceremony organised for them in the college campus.

Climate change and its impact on food security are critical areas where agricultural scientists have a big role to play, Prof. Nanda said while asking the graduates not to be overly dependent on technologies like ChatGPT. “It is a good ally but you should use it as a supplement,” he said.

Degrees were presented to the students of 2020-24 B.Sc. (Agril) batch and 2023 M.Sc. (Agril) batch on the occasion. Prof. Nanda also administered the oath to the graduating students.

Prof. Nanda said that the students had passed out from the university which had been ranked 14th in the country in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in 2024 and should always endeavour to keep SOA’s flag flying high.

Prof. Santosh Kumar Rout, Dean of IAS, presented the report while Prof.B.K. Mishra, Head of the department of Entomology, also spoke at the event.
