The Chief Minister visited the private-run hospital in the city, where the Health Minister, who sustained bullet injuries on his chest, is undergoing treatment. He held a discussion with Health Secretary and other officials regarding the treatment of his Cabinet colleague.
CM Patnaik also prayed for speedy recovery of the Health Minister.
Health Minister Naba Das sustained bullet injury on his chest after he was allegedly shot at by Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police (ASI) Gopal Das from a close range near Gandhi Chhak at Brajarajnagar in Jharsuguda district around 12.30 pm.
Following the incident, the Minister was rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital, Jharsuguda. Later, he was airlifted to the State Capital for further treatment. His condition was stated to be critical when the report was filed.
The accused ASI was taken into custody and interrogation was on to ascertain the motive behind the crime, police said.
