Alongside improvements in AI-driven features across core apps like Photos, Mail, Notes, and Fitness, the reports predict a notable expansion of the Calculator app's availability, with its debut on the iPad.

Describing iOS 18 as one of the most significant software updates for the iPhone to date, reports suggest that users can anticipate a series of design tweaks aimed at enhancing the overall user experience. While not as drastic as the transition witnessed in iOS 17, these changes are expected to make app designs more modular and customizable.

Furthermore, the recent reports obtained by Mashable confirm earlier reports regarding revamped capabilities for the iPhone home screen. iOS 18 is set to grant users the freedom to place icons anywhere on the screen, breaking away from the traditional grid alignment and offering a more personalized experience.

Looking beyond design and AI enhancements, the reports outline several anticipated features of iOS 18. One of the most noteworthy additions is the integration of RCS messaging support, which promises seamless group messaging with Android users while preserving iMessage exclusives like Memoji and stickers.

Moreover, Apple's intensified focus on AI is expected to revolutionize tasks such as summarization and playlist creation in Apple Music, thanks to AI-driven features across core apps and productivity tools. To further enhance its AI capabilities, Apple is reportedly exploring collaborations with industry leaders like OpenAI and Google, aiming to integrate cutting-edge chatbot technologies into the iPhone ecosystem seamlessly.

Speculation also surrounds the rebranding of Apple ID to 'Apple Account' in iOS 18, reflecting Apple's evolving branding strategy in response to changing market dynamics. Additionally, the Notes app is expected to receive a boost in functionality with support for displaying mathematical notation, enabling users to include various algebraic equations and formulas in their notes.

As anticipation builds for the release of iOS 18, the leaks offer a glimpse into the exciting changes and updates awaiting iPhone users in the near future.

She also attributed the fight against corruption, cutting down of red tape and facilitating ease of doing business as some of the reasons behind India being seen as the bright spot in the world.

Nirmala Sitharaman was addressing Viksit Bharat Ambassador Campus Dialogue at Gitam University in Visakhapatnam, this morning.

Addressing the gathering of Viksit Bharat Ambassadors, she also slammed the former finance minister P Chidambaram for describing the ‘transformational change’ as inevitable and saying that India was headed to become the third largest economy, irrespective of whomsoever is the Prime Minister.

She said that the growth in GDP does not happen automatically and this needs a lot of effort and a visionary leadership, which can stop corruption, and make sure skills are available and businesses have an environment to grow.

Notably, Chidambaram in an earlier statement had said “Prime Minister Narendra Modi is turning arithmetic inevitability into a guarantee.”

Countering ex-FM charge, Sitharaman said, “He says that given the population we have, there is no magic, we will become the third largest economy. The former finance minister is trying to create an impression which is completely untrue.”

“It’s not a mathematical inevitability. You need effort, you need a visionary leader, you need to stop corruption, you need to make sure that skills are available for our students, you need to make sure functions in delivering welfare schemes for common people, you need to make sure that poor get their due and you also need to make sure businesses have an environment to grow,” she added.

The FM also listed out many milestones achieved in Modi 1.0 and Modi 2.0 and highlighted how the economy lagged behind in the UPA eras.

“In 2004, when UPA came to power, India was at the 12th place. In 2007, it went to 14th place and in 2011 it came up to ninth place. In 2012 it slipped again to 10th place, in 2013 slipped further to 11th place and by 2014 it came to 10th place again,” she said and added that today India is the fifth largest and slated to become the third largest economy soon.

Nirmala Sitharaman further pointed out that except for the global financial crisis which happened in 2008, there were no major problems in those 10 years while there was a global pandemic in 2020 and despite that India reached fifth rank from the 10th rank in the last 10 years.

She said that economic growth needs a visionary leader who will ensure that corruption does not eat into the goodwill and earnings of common people.

“PM Modi has given a guarantee and with clean and transparent administration, we will make sure India reaches the third rank soon,” she said.

According to the NetApp report nations such as India, Singapore, the United Kingdom and the United States are leading the charge on AI adoption and innovation. Conversely, countries like Spain, Australia, and Germany are identified as laggards in this technological advancement

The report, conducted in collaboration with Savanta, surveyed over 1,300 executives across ten countries to gauge AI implementation status in various industries.

It revealed that 60 per cent companies in leading countries like India, Singapore, UK and USA, have AI projects up and running or in pilot. In contrast only 36 per cent of companies in AI-lagging countries like Spain, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Japan have embarked on similar AI initiatives.

The report also suggests that, both AI leaders and AI laggards show a difference in their approach to AI. Globally, 67 per cent of companies in AI-leading countries report having hybrid IT environments, India leading with 70 per cent and Japan lagging at 24 per cent.

AI leaders are also more likely to report benefits from AI, including a 50 per cent increase in production rates, 46 per cent in the automation of routine activities and 45 per cent improvement in customer experience.

"The rise of AI is ushering in a new disrupt-or-die era," said Gabie Boko, Chief Marketing Officer at NetApp. "Data-ready enterprises that connect and unify broad structured and unstructured data sets into an intelligent data infrastructure are best positioned to win in the age of AI."

The report suggests AI-laggard countries to must swiftly innovate and adopt AI if they want to remain competitive. About 42 per cent companies in AI-lagging countries have optimised their IT environments for AI. In Germany 67 per cent companies and in Spain 59 per cent companies have optimized their IT environment for AI.
"AI is only as good as the data that fuels it," said Pravjit Tiwana, General Manager and Senior Vice President of Cloud Storage at NetApp. "Both the AI leaders and AI laggards show us that in the prevailing hybrid IT environment, the more unified and reliable your data, the more likely your AI initiatives are to be successful."

The report says that, IT cost and data security are major challenges for AI adoption and innovations, but it won't stop the progress of AI.

The report concludes that the disparity underscores the growing importance of AI in driving economic growth, innovation, and competitiveness on a global scale.

Nations that are proactive in embracing AI technology are likely to enjoy significant advantages in various sectors, including finance, healthcare, manufacturing, and transportation. However, those slower to adopt risk will fall behind in the race for technological supremacy and the associated benefits it brings.
