The Centre has extended the Smart Cities Mission till March 2025, and this has been communicated to the states.

Hyderabad, June 30: The Centre has extended the Smart Cities Mission till March 2025, and this has been communicated to the states.

The Telangana government said on Sunday that the Centre sent letters to states on Saturday informing that it has extended the Smart Cities Mission till March 31, 2025.

The official letter clarified that the approved works will be continued and no new works will be sanctioned. The funds for ongoing works will be released on a first come first basis till September this year. The centre suggested completing the works at the earliest.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy's initiative drew a positive response from the Centre, said the Chief Minister's Office.

During his visit to New Delhi on June 24, the Chief Minister met Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar and requested him to extend the deadline for Smart Cities Mission till June 2025.

The Centre had earlier set the target of completing the Smart Cities Mission by June 30, 2024.

Telangana's Warangal and Karimnagar were among the cities selected under the Smart Cities Mission in the state.

According to the state government, 45 works have already been completed in Warangal. Another 66 works at the cost of Rs 518 crore are under progress.

A total of 25 works were completed and another 22 works costing Rs 287 crore are in progress in Karimnagar. The Chief Minister informed the status of the works to the union minister.

In the larger interests of the public, CM Revanth Reddy pleaded with the Central government for the extension of the Smart Cities Mission until the works are completed.

Man Dies After Hyva Runs Over Him In Cuttack

Cuttack, July 3: In a tragic mishap, a man died after a hyva ran over him near Jobra Malgodown Police Station limits in Cuttack district last night.

The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained.

According to the information, a man sitting Jobra ringroad roadside was hit by hyva and dragged halfway away.
On being informed, Police reached the spot and started investigation.

Local residents detained the driver of the hyva and handed him over to the police.

ISRO's Aditya-L1 completes first halo orbit around Sun-Earth L1 point in 178 days

New Delhi, July 3: India's first solar mission Aditya-L1 spacecraft completed its first halo orbit around the Sun-Earth L1 point on Tuesday, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) said in a statement.

The Aditya-L1 mission is an Indian solar observatory at Lagrangian point L1, launched on September 2 last year and was inserted in its targeted halo orbit on January 6.

Aditya-L1 spacecraft in the Halo orbit takes 178 days to complete a revolution around the L1 point.

During its travel in the halo orbit, the spacecraft will be subjected to various perturbing forces that will cause it to depart from the targeted orbit, the ISRO stated.

Further, it underwent two station-keeping manoeuvres on February 22 and June 7, respectively, to maintain this orbit.

Today's third station-keeping manoeuvre has ensured that its travel continued into the second halo orbit path around L1.

"This journey of Aditya L1 around Sun-Earth L1 Lagrangian point involves modelling of complex dynamics," it said.

The understanding of various perturbing forces acting on the spacecraft helped in determining the trajectory accurately and planning precise orbit manoeuvres.

However, with today's manoeuvre, the state-of-the-art flight dynamics software developed in-house at URSC-ISRO for the Aditya-L1 missions stands fully validated, according to the ISRO.

Further, the ISRO detailed the trajectories marked in the figure.

The blue trajectory, in the figure, is the orbit around the Lagrangian point L1. This trajectory is a 3-dimensional trajectory, and what is shown is the projection of it in the X-Y plane.

"SK#1, 2 & 3 are the Station Keeping maneuvers by the Aditya-L1 spacecraft. The final firing of the thrusters, ie. SK#3 on July 2, placed the spacecraft back in the required orbit," it stated.

Moreover, if an accurate firing was not done, the spacecraft would have moved away in a trajectory shown in green colour.
The X-Y axes are marked in the distance of km, with Lagrangian point L1 at the origin, it added.

UP doctors remove 5.5 kg tumour from woman's kidney

Lucknow, July 3: Doctors at Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS) in Lucknow have successfully removed a 5.5 kg tumour from a patient's kidney, they said.

According to reports, it is the second heaviest kidney tumour to be removed in India.

The patient is expected to be discharged next week.

The surgery, performed on June 27, took four hours and involved a complex procedure to extract the tumour that had spread to a major vein.

The patient, Madhuri, 56, a resident of Sahjana village in Uttar Pradesh's Hardoi, had been suffering from severe stomach pain for two years before receiving a diagnosis at RMLIMS.

Madhuri had sought treatment from various hospitals without relief before her family brought her to RMLIMS.

Doctors at the Urology department recommended a CT scan, which disclosed a 30-cm tumour in her left kidney.

Alok Srivastava, lead surgeon, RMLIMS, noted that the tumour had spread to a major vein, the inferior vena cava, responsible for transporting deoxygenated blood from the lower extremities and abdomen back to the heart.

"It is the second heaviest kidney tumour removed in India. The heaviest, weighing six kg, was removed at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in Delhi in 2019," Srivastava said.
