'Ramayan' actors to seek votes for Arun Govil in Meerut

Meerut, Apr 22: To pep up the campaign of BJP candidate Arun Govil in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut Lok Sabha seat, his co-stars from the serial 'Ramayan' will be campaigning for him.

Arun Govil played Lord Ram in Ramanand Sagar’s 'Ramayan' which became immensely popular when it was telecast in 1987.

Deepika Chikhlia and Sunil Lahiri, renowned for portraying Sita and Lakshman respectively in the iconic TV series, will campaign in Meerut for Arun Govil on Monday evening.

They will be holding a roadshow in support of Govil from Nandan Cinema to Saraswati Mandir.

Chikhlia and Lahri, along with other characters from the show, have confirmed that they will be seeking votes for Govil.

“Our best wishes are with him. We have a long association and even recently in January during the Pran Pratishtha of Ram temple, we were together. We will be canvassing for Govil, who is a good friend of ours,” Chikhlia told reporters in Mumbai. Some other actors from the serial are also likely to join Arun Govil’s campaign.

The other two main characters in the serial -- Arvind Trivedi, who played Ravana, and Dara Singh, who was Hanuman in the serial, are no longer alive.

PM Modi To Visit Odisha Twice Before 1st Phase Poll; Tight Security Planned

Bhubaneswar, May 4: To boost the 'possibility of the BJP being voted to power' in Odisha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is coming to the State two times in the next seven days, ahead of the first phase of polls in the State on May 13.

According to the information, the Prime Minister will reach Bhubaneswar on Sunday evening and halt the night at Raj Bhawan. He would address massive rallies at Berhampur and Nawarangpur the next day.

Similarly, the Prime Minister will lead a massive roadshow in Bhubaneswar on May 10. He will address a large public meeting at Balangir on May 11.

"Prime Minister's planned visit to Odisha ahead of the first phase of polls in the State on 13 will boost the morale of the BJP workers and have a big influence on voters. The Modi wave will change Odisha's governance this election," said a political analyst.

It may be noted that, recently, in an interview, the Prime Minister stated that Odisha's self-identity, language, and culture were at risk. A BJP-led double-engine government will ensure this in this election.

Odisha will go to votes in four phases on May 13, 20, 25 and June 1.

Keeping in view the visit of Prime Minister, the State police have tightened the security arrangements for him in the city. There will be tight security from the airport to the Raj Bhawan during evening hours as the PM will reach the airport at around 9.30 pm. SPG, CISF, and State police will be deployed for this purpose.

There will be a three-tier security system at Raj Bhawan. The entire area will be declared a no-drone flying zone.

A carcade rehearsal will be conducted by security personnel this evening.

As many as three DCPs, 10 ACPs, 17 IICs, and 90 SI/ASIs will be keeping vigil. As many as 20 platoons of police force will be deployed. The traffic system in the city will be streamlined.

Barricades will be erected on the roadsides for the movement of PM's carcade, informed DCP Prateek Singh.

He, however, said that the Commissionerate police has not received any plan of road-show by the PM in Bhubaneswar.

Arvinder Singh Lovely And Four Others Join BJP, Days After Quitting Congress

New Delhi, May 4: Arvinder Singh Lovely, former Delhi Congress chief and Rajkumar Chauhan, a former Congress minister, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the party headquarters in the capital on Saturday.

Apart from Arvinder Lovely and Rajkumar, a couple of other known faces of the Delhi Congress unit including Naseeb Singh, Neeraj Basoya and Amit Malik joined the BJP on Saturday.

Notably, the Delhi Congress unit has been beset with intense turmoil and infighting, as the city leaders are miffed and upset over the alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the high command giving preference to ‘outsiders’ over local leadership, in ticket allotment for Lok Sabha polls and also for party’s affairs.

Rajkumar Chauhan, the former Delhi minister and the All India Congress Committee (AICC) member resigned from the party last month after Delhi Congress’ disciplinary committee objected to his ‘dissent’ to the party line.

Arvinder Singh Lovely’s resignation as the Delhi unit chief, last month, came as a big blow to the party. This followed a series of exits including couple of well-known names like Naseeb Singh and Neeraj Basoya, both former Delhi legislators.(IANS)

Taapsee's Amsterdam Vacation With Sisters Is All About The ‘Canal, Cycling And Siblings'

Mumbai, May 4: Actress Taapsee Pannu, who was recently seen in the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer ‘Dunki’, has shared pictures from her vacation in the Netherlands.

On Saturday, the actress took to her Instagram and shared 3 pictures in which she can be seen soaking in the colours of her vacation with her sibling Shagun Pannu and cousin Evania Pannu.

In the pictures, the actress can be seen posing next to cycles over a canal in Amsterdam. All three of them are dressed in woollens with Taapsee donning a black turtleneck t-shirt which she paired with a woollen coat, a pair of denims and leather boots.

The actress wrote in the caption: “My kind of Amsterdam. Canal, cycling and sibling.”

Taapsee is quite active on Instagram, of late. Earlier, the actress took to her Instagram to share pictures from her aerial yoga session. Aerial yoga blends traditional asanas and yoga philosophies with the art of aerial acrobatics, utilising fabrics or ropes suspended to assist practitioners in creating various shapes.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Taapsee is gearing up for her upcoming film 'Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba', the sequel to her 2021 streaming movie 'Haseen Dilruba'. (IANS)
