Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday hit out at the Congress leadership, accusing it of indulging in 'dynastic' politics and said that the grand old party strives to 'punish' its leader Sachin Pilot for his father's revolt against high command in 1996.

Bhilwara, Nov 22: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday hit out at the Congress leadership, accusing it of indulging in 'dynastic' politics and said that the grand old party strives to 'punish' its leader Sachin Pilot for his father's revolt against high command in 1996.

Addressing a public rally in Bhilwara's Shahpura of Rajasthan, PM Modi said that the Congress party has a feeling of rancour for his son- Sachin Pilot as his father Rajesh Pilot

"You know the history of Congress. Whomsoever tries to raise his voice against wrongdoings in the party, he will lose political space because of the high command sitting in Delhi. Rajesh Pilot, only once raised his voice against Congress and that too for the betterment of the Congress, but the party is punishing Sachin Pilot to the date. Rajesh Pilot is no more but Congress is with a feeling of rancour for his son- Sachin Pilot," The PM said.

Notably, Congress leader Rajesh Pilot was considered to be one of the few in the party's governing body who argued against putting forth Sonia Gandhi as the party's prime ministerial candidate.

The Gehlot-Sachin Pilot feud cropped up soon after the Congress's 2018 victory in Rajasthan, over the chief minister's post.

Though Pilot agreed to play second fiddle to the veteran, he revolted in 2020.

In 1996, Narasimha Rao resigned from the President's post and made way for Sitaram Kesri, who had previously served as the party's treasurer for nearly two decades.

Veterans Sharad Pawar and Rajesh Pilot challenged Kesri and lost.

In December 1997, Sonia announced her decision to campaign for the Congress in the 1998 elections and became active within the party. A year later, she expressed her willingness for the post and Kesri was removed in a bloodless coup.

However, the PM today further sharpened his attack on the Congress party and said that a big danger is hovering over Rajasthan's culture due to the path of polarisation taken by Congress.

"A big danger is hovering over Rajasthan's culture. The road that the Congress has taken for polarisation will lead Rajasthan towards devastation," the PM said.

Of the seven constituencies in Bhilwara-Asind, Bhilwara, Jahazpur, Mandal, Mandalgarh, Sahada and Shahpura-BJP secured victories in five in the 2018 assembly polls while Congress bagged two (Mandal and Sahara).

Asind, Bhilwara and Shahpura constituencies are considered BJP strongholds, having brought the party consistent victories. BJP has maintained a winning streak in Bhilwara since 2003, with Congress briefly breaking it in 1998.

Harshit Rana suspended for one match for breaching IPL Code of Conduct

Mumbai, April 30: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bowler Harshit Rana has been fined 100 per cent of his match fees and suspended for one match for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during the match against Delhi Capitals at the Eden Gardens, in Kolkata on April 29.

Rana committed a Level 1 offence under Article 2.5 of the IPL's Code of Conduct. He admitted to the offence and accepted the Match Referee’s sanction. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee's decision is final and binding.

The player was earlier penalised under the same level and article of the IPL Code of Conduct.

"Jab Bhagwan ne mujhe manufacture kiya...": PM Modi on why he can't think 'small'

Latur, April 30: Elaborating on his 'ambitious' vision for the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Tuesday that he can never think small.

"Modi can never think small, Jab Bhagwan ne mujhe manufacture kiya (when God manufactured me), he didn't put the 'small' chip, but only the big one," he said at a public meeting in Maharashtra's Latur.

"In Olympics, Paralympics, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, and University Games, Indian players are breaking decades-old records. This confidence among Indian citizens will take us towards a developed India. It is my dream to host the 2029 Youth Olympics in India. it is my dream that the 2036 Olympics be held in India," he added.

Speaking on the security situation in the country, PM Modi said that earlier regular announcements were made warning of unattended objects, while today India is able to safeguard its border strongly.

He took a jibe at the Congress party referring to the 26/11 terror attacks and said earlier the government was only able to send the dossier to Pakistan, while today it can kill its enemies inside their own country.

"Before 2014, there would be announcements at railways stations, fares and crowded places warning of unattended objects...In the whole country, 24 hours a day, such warnings were issued in important places...Where did these unattended objects disappear after Modi became Prime Minister? At that time, newspapers had headlines informing about bomb blasts every other day and police were not equipped to counter advanced threats. Today, India is known for giving a strong reply to those looking at our borders with ill intentions," the Prime Minister said.

"Earlier, there were headlines that India sent a new dossier (documents) to Pakistan in connection with the 26/11 attacks. Today, India no longer sends dossier, ghar mein ghus kar maarta hai (kills enemies inside their houses)," he added.

He further attacked the INDIA bloc alleging that the alliance is planning to have one Prime Minister for each year, adding that the country can't be thrown into such 'uncertainty'.

"When I talk about 'Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat', the 'shehzada' of Congress catches fever. They ask why I talk about one India. Those who view India in divisions, also want to divide the Prime Ministerial post. Their plan of have five PMs in five years, which means looting the country in turns. I want to ask, should such people be given even the slightest of chance? Can we throw our country into uncertainty in the current period of global turbulence?" PM Modi said.

The Prime Minister attacked the Congress party over its manifesto and asked people if they would allow the party to "loot" their hard-earned wealth.
"Congress has made a dangerous plan, they will carry an x-ray of your properties, then seize it and distribute it among their vote bank. Will you allow Congress to loot your property? Congress has set its eagle eyes on your wealth, will you allow the 'panja' (veiled attack at Congress' hand symbol) to loot your properties?" he further stated.

Maharashtra sends 48 MPs to the Lok Sabha. The polling in the state is being held across five phases. Voting in 13 seats has already concluded in 13 out of the 48 seats. The counting of votes is scheduled for June 4.

In 2019, BJP won 23 out of 48 seats, while its NDA ally undivided Shiv Sena won 18 seats. Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Congress could only win four and one seat respectively.

Dharmendra Slams BJD For Spreading Lies Against Shah, Urges CEO For Action

Bhubaneswar, Apr 30: Union Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Minister and BJP candidate from Sambalpur MP seat, Dharmendra Pradhan on Tuesday severely criticized the BJD for 'wrongly' quoting Union Home Minister Amit Shah over ST quota.

While at a public meeting, BJD's Nabaranpur Parliamentary seat candidate Pradeep Majhi quoted the Union Home Minister saying the BJP government, if voted to power, would scrap quota, Pradhan said the BJD has been in a practice of spreading lies at the time of election and the CEO should take cognizance of it and act against Majhi as per law.

"The BJD has been taking support of the lies during elections. At the behest of the BJD's imported Gumasta, party (BJD) candidate Pradeep Majhi has told in a meeting false things about Home Minister Amit Shah. It is now moving into social media. It should be stopped. I request the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) to take cognizance of it and take necessary action against Majhi as per law," demanded Pradhan.

Pradhan said his party would raise the issue before the CEO soon.
