At least 4 people, including 3 students and a driver, were critically injured after a speeding car collided with a school bus in Karnataka's Haveri district on Thursday.

Haveri, Dec 28: At least 4 people, including 3 students and a driver, were critically injured after a speeding car collided with a school bus in Karnataka's Haveri district on Thursday.

A KSRTC bus in which school students were going on a trip overturned from the impact of the collision near Bevinahalli Cross in Savanur Taluk of Haveri district.

The bus driver, identified as Malappa Hosur, suffered a fractured spine, according to officials.

Three students, who sustained serious injuries, were identified as Vivya Sajjanagudda, Savitharavi Reddy and Guruna Gowda.

They are students of Raichur District Lingasura Taluq Senior Primary School in Sajjalagudda, officials informed.

According to the police, a total of 53 students and 6 teachers were on board the KSRTC government bus that belonged to North East Karnataka Transport Corporation.

The students were on an excursion trip to Gotagodi Rock Garden.

Rushing to the scene after receiving word of the incident, a police team shifted the injured students to Savanur Taluk Hospital.
The critically injured bus driver and students were then shifted to Hubli Kims, officials added.

Four UP Lawyers Lose Bar Licence For Brawl With Litigants

Prayagraj, May 3: The Allahabad District Court Bar Association has cancelled the membership of four lawyers, who were allegedly involved in the thrashing of litigants inside the civil judge’s chamber.

A division bench of Allahabad High Court had, on Tuesday, restrained the entry of two lawyers in the district court, Allahabad compound.

President of the district bar association, Rajendra Mishra said on Friday, “The licences of four lawyers -- Ran Vijay Singh, Mohd Asif, Mohd Mehtab and Mohd Aftab -- have been cancelled. Ran Vijay Singh and Mohd Asif have also been restrained from entering the district court premises of Prayagraj by the high court. We have cancelled the licences of four lawyers as their names were also mentioned as accused in the FIR lodged by litigants at Colnelganj police station on April 29.”

Acting on the reference sent by district judge, Prayagraj, a division bench had also issued notice to both the lawyers asking them why should they not be punished for criminal contempt.

The court had also directed the Prayagraj district judge to submit a report after perusing CCTV footage relating to the involvement of other counsels or individuals in the incident.
