Five persons were killed in two separate road accidents in Andhra Pradesh on Thursday, police said.

Amaravati, Mar 28: Five persons were killed in two separate road accidents in Andhra Pradesh on Thursday, police said.

In the first accident that occurred in Prakasam district, three women were killed when a car they were travelling in hit the road divider.

Two others were injured in the mishap near Tanguturu toll plaza.

The deceased were identified as residents of Kundukuru of Nellore district. They were returning to Kundukuru after attending a marriage in Palvancha of Khammam district in neighbouring Telangana.

In another accident in Nellore district, two drivers were killed when a mini lorry rammed into a stationary truck.

The accident occurred near Bhogyamvari Palli in Varikuntapadu mandal.

According to police the truck driver had parked the vehicle by the roadside to check tyres when a mini truck hit the vehicle from rear. Drivers of both the vehicles were killed in the accident.

'The Young and the Restless' actor Marla Adams passes away at 85

Washington, Apr 27: Marla Adams, renowned for her portrayal of Dina Abbott Mergeron on the popular daytime soap opera 'The Young and the Restless,' has passed away at the age of 85.

The news was confirmed by Matt Kane, director of media and talent for the show, on Thursday in Los Angeles, Variety reported.
Adams embarked on her journey in the world of daytime drama back in 1968 with her role as Belle Clemens on 'The Secret Storm.'

Her talent shone through, captivating audiences until 1974. However, it was her iconic portrayal of Dina Abbott Mergeron on 'The Young and the Restless,' which she joined in 1982, that etched her name into television history.

As Dina Abbott Mergeron, Adams embodied the essence of the Abbott family matriarch, bringing depth and complexity to the character. Her onscreen presence as the mother to Ashley, Traci, and Jack Abbott endeared her to fans worldwide.

Throughout her 37-year tenure on 'The Young and the Restless,' Adams left an indelible mark on the show, appearing on and off until her full-time return in 2017. Her portrayal of Dina's struggle with Alzheimer's disease garnered critical acclaim, earning her a Daytime Emmy Award in 2021.

Beyond her role on 'c,' Adams graced the screens in over 40 productions, including appearances on 'The Bold and the Beautiful,' 'Days of our Lives,' and 'The Golden Girls.'

Marla Adams is survived by her children Pam Oates and Gunnar Garat, as well as her grandchildren and great-grandson, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by generations of fans.

Man finds wife married his brother, kills their toddler in fit of rage

Gurugram, Apr 27: A man, who recently walked out of prison, has been arrested again for allegedly killing his brother's seven-month-old daughter in a fit of rage as he found that his wife had married him (his younger brother) while he was incarcerated.

The arrested individual has been identified as Vijay Sahani (30), a native of Bihar.

He was arrested by the police hours after he allegedly killed the infant girl.

According to the police, during the investigation, the accused's estranged wife mentioned that Vijay was lodged in Gurugram's Bhondsi jail in a chain snatching case for the last four years.

When Vijay was in jail, the woman had married his younger brother, and later gave birth to a girl. He came out of the jail on April 24.

Thereafter, on the intervening nights of April 24 and April 25, an argument occurred between the accused and his estranged wife.

Later, in a fit of rage, Vijay killed the baby girl by throwing her on the floor and fled.

On Friday morning, the police received information that the unconscious body of a baby girl had been found in the Nathupura village area, following which the police reached the spot and recovered the body.
