Bhutan PM Praises Adani Group's Renewable Energy Projects During Gujarat Visit

Gandhinagar, July 24: The Prime Minister of Bhutan, Tshering Tobgay, shared his experience Wednesday of his visit to the Adani Group's mega renewable energy project site at Khavda and Mundra Port in Gujarat.

Terming Adani Group chairman, Gautam Adani as his friend, the Bhutanese Prime Minister stated that during his visit he had witnessed firsthand the vision of the business magnate and noted that there are many opportunities for further strengthening their partnership in green energy.

"With what I've seen in what Gautam Adani is doing with renewable energy and the special economic zone and what I have seen at the Gift City today, I can see a lot of opportunities for further strengthening our partnership, cooperation, and friendship through these projects," the Bhutan Prime Minister said.

The visit, he said will further strengthen the strong ties of friendship "between Bhutan and Bharat." "Today we visited the GIFT city and are very inspired at what has been achieved in such a short time in this smart city. And so all in all, I see that this royal visit here will further strengthen the strong ties of friendship between Bhutan and Bharat," Tobgay said.

Tobgay said that the visit to the Statue of Unity was like a "pilgrimage" for them.

"We visited the Statue of Unity at Kevadia on the day we arrived, and I can tell you that I felt like I was on a pilgrimage to see this gigantic statue and to experience Prime Minister Modiji's vision for India," said the Bhutan PM.

Earlier, Gautam Adani said that he was "immensely grateful" for King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Bhutan Prime Minister's visit to the Adani's 30 GW Renewable Energy site at Khavda and Mundra Port.

"Deeply inspired by Bhutan's vibrant spirit and steadfast commitment to eco-friendly initiatives. We are excited about doing our part to foster collaboration with the Land of the Thunder Dragon for a sustainable and greener future," Gautam Adani said in a post on X.

Recently, many international dignitaries have visited Adani's renewable energy site and hailed his work in the renewable sector.

Last week, US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti visited the mega renewable energy project site at Khavda and Mundra Port.

Earlier May 29, the Ambassador of Japan, Hiroshi Suzuki, visited the Mundra Port. The Ambassador indicated that Japan is looking forward to working with the Adani Group.

Gautam Adani expressed gratitude for Ambassador Suzuki's visit and emphasized the importance of the India-Japan partnership in driving forward innovative and sustainable initiatives.

On May 2, Adani interacted with the British High Commissioner to India, Lindy Cameron, discussing a wide range of topics, from her tenure across the world, including Iraq and Afghanistan, to cybersecurity and the future of nuclear energy.

Women's T20 WC: South Africa Knock Out Six-Time Champions Australia To Reach Final

Dubai, Oct 18: Anneke Bosch's unbeaten 74 off 48 balls enabled South Africa to knock out six-time champions Australia from the Women's T20 World Cup on Thursday. In the first semi-final of the tournament, South Africa defeated Australia by eight wickets at Dubai International Stadium to reach the final of the tournament.

In the 2023 T20 World Cup final, South Africa lost to Australia by 19 runs to miss out on their maiden ICC silverware. However, this time they overcame the Aussie hurdle and will eye to clinch the title on Sunday. The second semifinal will be played between West Indies and New Zealand in Sharjah on Friday.

Proteas captain Laura Wolvaardt won the toss and opted to bowl first. South African bowlers backed their skipper's decision and bowled economically to restrict Australia to 134/5 in 20 overs with Beth Mooney playing a knock of 44 runs while Ellyse Perry contributed 31.

Chasing a below-par 135, Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits gave a cautious start to South Africa in the powerplay before Annabel Sutherland drew first blood for Australia in the fifth over. She removed Brits for 15 as Anneke Bosch joined her captain in the middle. The senior duo lived up to the occasion and stitched a 96-run match-setting stand for the second wicket. Bosch played the role of aggressor and hit eight fours and a six in a 74-run knock while Wolvaardt struck 37-ball 42 including three fours and a maximum before Sutherland got her second for the night in the 15th over.

It was too late for Australia to further dent South Africa's chase as new batter Chloe Tryon only contributed one run with Bosch finishing in fashion to take her side over the line in the 18th over.

Before the start of the match, South Africa have never defeated Australia in the women's T20I. On the other hand, Australia will not play the T20 World Cup final for the first time since 2009. In the tournament's history, Australia have won six titles and finished runners-up once.

Earlier, Australia managed to score 134 runs in front of economical Proteas bowlers. Grace Harris, who had previously scored 40 as a makeshift opener against India, was dismissed for just three off Ayobonga Khaka, giving South Africa their first breakthrough of the match. The Aussies also lost Georgia Wareham early on, but Beth Mooney and Tahlia McGrath steadied the innings with a solid 50-run partnership for the third wicket.

Left-arm spinner Nonkululeko Mlaba broke the partnership by dismissing McGrath for 27. Mooney continued until the 17th over, scoring 44 runs off 42 balls before being run out. Ellyse Perry then came in with an attacking mindset, boosting the innings with a quickfire 31 runs off 23 balls.

Phoebe Litchfield, who had a useful cameo against India, followed up with 16 runs off nine deliveries. Khaka stood out among South Africa's bowlers with figures of 2-24 in four overs. Marizanne Kapp and Mlaba bagged one wicket each while Chloe Tryon finished with the figures of 0-25 in her four overs.

Brief scores: Australia 134/5 in 20 overs (Beth Mooney 44, Ellyse Perry 31; Ayabonga Khaka 2-24) lost to South Africa 135/2 in 17.2 overs (Anneke Bosch 74*, Laura Wolvaardt 42; Annabel Sutherland 2-26) by eight wickets.

Odisha: Eggs Hurled At Ex-BJD MLA Pranab Balabantaray’s Vehicle

Jajpur, Oct 17: A group of youths allegedly hurled eggs at the vehicle of BJD leader and former Dharmasala MLA Pranab Kumar Balabantaray in Odisha's Jajpur district on Thursday.

According to sources, the incident took place at Andobala village under Dharmasala Assembly constituency in the district when Balabantaray was on way to visit various Laxmi Puja pandals.

A group of youths raised slogans against the BJD leader and targeted his vehicle as he returned from one of the pandals, sources said.

After getting information, a police team from Jenapur police station reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident.

Balabantaray, son of late Minister and Rajya Sabha MP Kalpataru Das was elected to the State Assembly from Dharmasala seat on BJD ticket in 2014 and 2019.
