Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a two-day state visit to Bhutan, interacted with the members of the Indian diaspora and the local people of Bhutan who gathered to welcome him outside the Hotel in Bhutan's national capital, Thimphu.

PM Modi was welcomed with a cultural performance at the Hotel and people holding Indian flags to see him.
Later on, PM greeted the other officials gathered at the Hotel.

The members of the Indian community on meeting PM Modi expressed their happiness and said that they felt honoured to meet PM Modi.

"We saw PM Modi. We were very excited to see him. He came to meet us, he greeted us and saw cultural dance. It was really a good feeling and we were really honoured to see him so closely. Thanks to the Indian embassy, and Indian community here for giving me this opportunity," Varun Amar, who has been working in the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) said.

Dr Pallavi Majumdar, working in Bhutan said that this was a big event for them and she felt privileged to be part of the event.

"This was a big event. There was a lot of anticipation that PM Modi would come to Bhutan. As an Indian community, I feel very privileged and honoured to see him as such close quarters. Felt very good," she said.
Earlier, PM Modi received a rousing welcome from the people who turned out in large numbers to accord a warm reception in Bhutan.

n an unprecedented welcome for PM Modi in Bhutan, people lined up the streets across the entire stretch of 45 kms from Paro to the national capital, Thimphu.
It was as if a human wall was present across the entire stretch of 45 kms from Paro to Thimphu and the entire Bhutan was on roads.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday received a warm reception at the Paro International Airport as he landed in Bhutan's Paro International Airport to pay an official state visit.

PM Modi's arrival embraced relations between Bhutan and India as Bhutanese PM Tshering Tongay gave the former a warm hug.

Later on, PM Modi was accorded a grand guard of honour at the airport from Bhutanese armed forces.
PM Modi departed for Bhutan on Friday morning and is scheduled to pay a state visit to Bhutan from March 22-23.

Ahead of PM Modi's arrival in Bhutan, concerned authorities made elaborate preparations to welcome the leader at Paro International Airport.
PM Modi's posters along with his Bhutanese counterpart have been put up at the airport and the venue was decorated with flowers and Rangoli (coloured artwork).

A red carpet and colourful flags to portray Bhutanese culture were also set up to welcome PM Modi.
During his visit to Bhutan, PM Modi will attend various programmes to further enhance India-Bhutan bilateral partnership.

India and Bhutan share a unique and exemplary bilateral relationship founded on mutual trust, goodwill, and understanding.

Formal diplomatic ties between the two countries were established in 1968, with the cornerstone being the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation signed in 1949 and subsequently renewed in February 2007.
Over the years, high-level exchanges have played a pivotal role in nurturing the strong bond between India and Bhutan.

King of Bhutan, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, has made several visits to India, underscoring the close ties between the two nations. His last visit to India was in November 2023.

Similarly, PM Modi's visit to Bhutan in August 2019 marked a significant milestone, with the launch of major bilateral projects aimed at bolstering economic cooperation and connectivity.

The recent official visit of Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay of Bhutan to India in March 2024 further reaffirmed the commitment of both countries to enhancing bilateral relations across various domains, including development cooperation and vibrant economic ties.

Odisha Cops To Visit Kolkata For Further Investigation Into Fake Call Centre Case

Bhubaneswar, Oct 18: A team of Odisha Police will visit Kolkata for further investigation into the case pertaining to the fake call centre busted on Wednesday in the Sundarpada area of Bhubaneswar, officials said on Friday.

"Almost all of the accused persons are graduates while some of them also have technical knowledge... a team of (Bhubaneswar-Cuttack) Commissionerate police will go to Kolkata for verification of their original identity, educational qualification and other criminal antecedent," Bhubaneswar DCP Pinak Mishra told media persons.

The Bhubaneswar DCP said that the city police have sought the permission of a court to take all the six accused cyber fraudsters on a five-day remand. He expressed the hope that more information would be elicited during the interrogation of these accused persons.

The accused persons were on Thursday presented before the court which later sent them to 14 days of judicial custody.

Mishra also asserted that several other agencies have contacted the Commissionerate police in connection with the case.

"Haider Ali, the main accused, revealed that his team of six members was involved in sending fake emails to national and international clients who had subscribed to an antivirus software," police sources said.

"They impersonated customer care agents, providing fake numbers and inducing customers to make fraudulent transactions, earning them a monthly income of Rs 1 lakh. The team operated as call openers, interacting with customers in English to dupe customers," the sources said.

Police further claimed that the accused persons worked like a criminal syndicate, specifically a cybercrime, where they impersonated a customer care agency, committing identity theft, forging valuable documents, and stealing credentials from genuine customers.

Police on Wednesday busted the fake call centre being operated from an apartment in Sundarpada area of Bhubaneswar. As many as six accused persons, belonging to Kolkata, were arrested during the police raid. (IANS)

PM Modi To Visit Russia Next Week To Attend BRICS Summit In Kazan

New Delhi, Oct 18: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Russia at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin from October 22-23 to attend the 16th BRICS Summit in Kazan.

The BRICS Summit in Kazan is being held under the chairmanship of Russia, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). During his visit, PM Modi is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts from BRICS member countries and invited leaders in Kazan.

The MEA said, "The Summit, themed "Strengthening Multilateralism for Just Global Development and Security," will provide an important platform for leaders to discuss key global issues.:"

It further said, "The Summit will offer a valuable opportunity to assess the progress of initiatives launched by BRICS and to identify potential areas for future collaboration."

The leaders of BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India, and China) countries met for the first time in St Petersburg in Russia in 2006. After a series of high-level meetings, the first BRIC summit was held in Russia's Yekaterinburg in 2009.

BRIC group was renamed as BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) after South Africa was accepted as a full member at the BRIC Foreign Ministers' meeting in New York in September 2010.

BRICS is an important grouping bringing together the major emerging economies from the world, comprising 41 per cent of the world population, having 24 per cent of the world GDP and over 16 per cent share in the world trade.

Earlier in September, Russian President Vladimir Putin extended an invitation to PM Modi, proposing a bilateral meeting on October 22, on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in Kazan. During the invitation, Putin also referred to PM Modi as a "good friend."

The remarks by Putin came while he met National Security Advisor Ajit Doval on the sidelines of the BRICS National Security Advisers' meeting. Putin had a meeting with Doval at the Constantine Palace in Russia's St. Petersberg.

Quoting President Putin, the Kremlin in a statement said, "We will be expecting Mr Modi in Kazan. I also suggest holding a bilateral meeting there on October 22 in order to close the books on our joint work in implementing the agreements reached during his visit to Moscow and outline some prospects for the near future."

"Please extend my warmest regards and best wishes to Mr Modi, my good friend," the statement added.

It will be PM Narendra Modi's second visit to Russia in 2024 as he travelled to Moscow in July to attend the 22nd India-Russia Annual Summit. During his visit to Russia, PM Modi held a bilateral meeting with Russian President Putin.

PM Modi was also conferred with Russia's highest civilian award, the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle at the Kremlin in Moscow. The two leaders visited the Rosatom Pavilion at the VDNKh Exhibition Centre in Moscow. (ANI)
