'Act Of Stupidity': BJP Condemns Resolution For Article 370 Restoration In J&K

New Delhi, Nov 7: Senior BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Thursday criticised the Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Legislative Assembly's resolution advocating for the restoration of Article 370 and called it an act of "stupidity."

This resolution, aimed at restoring special status and constitutional guarantees, was passed by voice vote on Wednesday, with all parties except the BJP supporting it.

The resolution, moved by J&K Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary and seconded by NC leader Sakina Masood, was introduced by the Omar Abdullah-led government on the third day of the Assembly's session. It expressed concern over the "unilateral removal" of special guarantees that previously protected Jammu and Kashmir's unique identity, culture, and rights.

Reacting to the resolution, Naqvi remarked, "Those who are engaging in such stupidity know well the Constitution's demarcation of Assembly and Parliament rights. Competing to encroach upon Parliament's authority serves no purpose."

He added that Article 370 should be regarded as history, remarking that it has been "buried 370 kilometres into the ground."

Naqvi also slammed the National Conference (NC) for pushing this resolution, emphasising that the removal of Article 370 had addressed numerous issues in the Union Territory.

"The high voter turnout in the Assembly elections reflects the people's support for change. Certain separatist forces and their supporters, however, remain opposed to this progress," he added.

Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma also condemned the resolution, questioning how it could be introduced when the House's scheduled business was to debate the Lieutenant Governor's address.

Independent MLAs Sheikh Khurshid Ahmed, Shabir Ahmad, and Sajad Lone of the People's Conference (PC) and three MLAs from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) also supported the resolution.

Notably, the Article 370 was revoked by Modi government on August 5, 2019.

Shreyas Iyer Smashes Double Century Against Odisha, Continues Fine Form In Ranji Trophy

Mumbai, Nov 7: India batter Shreyas Iyer continued his impressive form in the ongoing Ranji Trophy, scoring his third first-class double century against Odisha in the Group A Elite fixture Thursday.

Iyer scored 233 off 228 balls, hitting 24 fours and nine sixes, with a strike rate of 102.19. His innings, along with significant contributions from Siddhesh Lad (169), Angkrish Raghuvanshi (92) and Suryansh Shedge (79 n o), propelled Mumbai to 602/4 declared after being put in to bat by Odisha. Odisha is currently playing in their first innings.

This is Iyer's third double-century in first-class cricket, following his double ton against Punjab in 2015 and a score of 202 against Australia A in 2017.

Iyer is the third-highest run-scorer in the ongoing Ranji Trophy season, amassing 405 runs in four innings at an average of 101.25, including two centuries. His highest score is 233.

In the previous match against Maharashtra, he scored 142. In his first Ranji game of the season against Baroda, he managed scores of 0 and 30.

These substantial scores will undoubtedly bolster Iyer's confidence, especially after being dropped from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) central contract list this year due to concerns over his commitment to red-ball cricket.

Iyer was part of Mumbai's Ranji Trophy-winning side this year and also led the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL, scoring 351 runs in 15 matches at an average of 39.00, with two half-centuries.

He marked his return to red-ball cricket for Mumbai in the Buchi Babu tournament, though he didn't make a major impact. In the season-opening Duleep Trophy, he scored 154 runs in three matches (six innings) at an average of 25.66, with two half-centuries.

Iyer also featured in Mumbai's Irani Cup-winning team against the Rest of India, scoring 57 and eight across the two innings.

He last represented India in Test cricket in February this year, before being dropped due to a slump in form. In 14 Tests, he has scored 811 runs at an average of 36.86, with one century and five fifties in 24 innings. His highest score in Tests is 105.

Ananya Panday, Lakshya Lalwani To Star In Passionate Love Story ‘Chand Mera Dil’

Mumbai, Nov 7: Actress Ananya Panday and Lakshya Lalwani, who made his film debut with “Kill”, will be seen sharing screen space together in the upcoming romantic movie “Chand Mera Dil”.

Ananya and Lakshya took to their respective Instagram handles, where they shared several posters from the upcoming movie, which hinted that the movie is all about “love”.

The two captioned the post: “Pyaar mein thoda paagal hona hi padta hai… Chand Mera Dil, directed by Vivek Soni. Coming to cinemas in 2025. @lakshya @karanjohar @adarpoonawalla @apoorva1972 @somenmishra @vivek.sonni @marijkedesouza @paranjapetushar @dharmamovies.”

The film, which will release in 2025, is directed by Vivek Soni, who has previously made

“Meenakshi Sundareshwar”, starring Sanya Malhotra and Abhimanyu Dassani in 2021.

Sharing the same posters, Karan Johar, whose Dharma Productions is presenting the movie, took to Instagram, describing the film as a “passionate love story”.

He wrote: “We have two chands ready to bring an intense & passionate love story like no other!!!

Pyaar mein thoda paagal hona hi padta hai… Chand Mera Dil, starring Ananya Panday & Lakshya.

Directed by Vivek Soni. Coming to cinemas in 2025.”

The film’s title seems to have been inspired by the song “Chand Mera Dil Chandni Ho Tum” from the 1977 film “Hum Kisise Kum Naheen”. The song was sung by Mohammed Rafi. The film

featured Rishi Kapoor, Tariq, Kaajal Kiran, Amjad Khan and Zeenat Aman in a special appearance.

Talking about Ananya, she was last seen in “CTRL”, a screenlife thriller film directed by Vikramaditya Motwane. It also has Vihaan Samat. The film was about a social media influencer couple. When the boyfriend cheats on her, she turns to an AI app to erase his digital existence on her computer and social media.

Meanwhile, Lakshya rose to fame with his performance in “Kill”, directed by Nikhil Nagesh Bhat. The cast of the film also includes Tanya Maniktala and Raghav Juyal. “Kill” traced the story of a train ride to New Delhi becoming a combat battleground as a pair of commandos faces off against an army of invading bandits.
