On Wednesday, a protest was marked at the Odisha Nivas in New Delhi. Student Congress activists sat on a dharna there, demanding ouster and arrest of Minister Dibya Shankar Mishra for his alleged complicity in the Mamita Meher killing case. They alleged that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is protecting Mishra.
“We will not move back until the Minister is not dismissed and ousted and justice is not availed to sister Mamita,” said protestors.
Later they submitted a memorandum to the Resident Commissioner in favour of their demands. Sources said they have also a plan to sit on an indefinite dharna at Jantar Mantar in the national capital from tomorrow.
In Odisha, ABVP activists scuffled with police personnel at Shishu Bhawan Chhak as they were stopped from moving to Naveen Niwas. They were advancing to gherao the Chief Minister’s residence to press for ouster and arrest of Minister Mishra.
In a related protest, Youth Congress activists hurled eggs at Sports and Youth Services Minister Tusharkanti Behera during his Kalahandi visit on the day.
