This year's event, held on May 7 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, welcomed everything from red carpet debuts to couple goals and family outings to the fashion's biggest night.

However, there were many renowned names who were noticeably absent.

Rihanna

Singer Rihanna, who is fondly called RiRi, has often unleashed her fashionable avatar at Met Gala. Surprisingly, this time she did not show up. As per The Hollywood Reporter, she stayed home due to an unexpected bout with the flu following an appearance in

Miami over the weekend for the Formula 1 race.

Rihanna had even teased her strategy for this year's event, telling 'Extra' that she had planned to keep it "real simple."

Blake Lively

Blake, who recently embraced motherhood, skipped appearing at the Met Gala 2024. In 2023, she teased that she wouldn't be attending but would be watching. She then posted an Instagram story that read, "First Monday in May".

In 2022, Blake wowed everyone with her colour-changing dress for the 2022 Gilded Glamour-themed Met Gala.

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga has not been attending the Met Gala since she showed up in 2019 and delivered one look that was secretly four entirely different ensembles. Fans were expecting her presence this year but they got unlucky.

Taylor Swift

Singer Taylor Swift gave Met Gala a miss this year. As per People, the 14-time Grammy winner is busy preparing for her iconic Eras Tour in Europe starting this week and spanning until summer. Swift made her last Met Gala appearance as a bleach-blonde co-chair in 2016.

Jared Leto

The Oscar winning actor has put on many head-turning performances at previous Met Galas. However, this year he did not show up.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, during an interview with E! News correspondent at the recent iHeartRadio Music Awards, Leto revealed the reason why. "Back on the road," Leto said referencing his current tour with his longtime band 30 Seconds to Mars. "It's been five years."

Stars like Beyonce, Harry Styles, Ben Affleck, Travis Barker and Kourtney Kardashian let fans down by skipping the 2024 Met Gala.

Prime Minister Visits BJP State Office For First Time, To Discuss With Leaders

Bhubaneswar, May 19: Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the BJP State head office here for the first time this evening. He was given a grand welcome amid beating of drums and cultural programmes.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to discuss with election issues with State BJP leaders. He will hold discussions with leaders engaged in the election management of the BJP.

The Prime Minister will stay in the party office for more than an hour. He will spend the night at Raj Bhawan.

Security has been tightened for the visit of the Prime Minister. The entire area from the airport to the BJP State office has been declared a no-flying zone.

This is the third visit of the Prime Minister to Odisha. Earlier, he addressed about four Vijaya Sankalpa Samavesh at various places and conducted a massive road show at Bhubaneswar.

During is two-day stay, the Prime Minister is scheduled to visit the Shreemandir in Puri and then hold a grand roadshow at the Bada Danda (Grand Road) tomorrow morning.

Later, the Prime Minister will hold meetings at Cuttack and Angul.

BJP To Form Government In Odisha With Absolute Majority: Rajnath Singh

Keonjhar, May 19: Defence Minister and BJP heavyweight Rajnath Singh on Sunday exuded confidence that the BJP will form a government in Odisha with absolute majority this time.

"Congress and BJD have ruled Odisha for many years. They have been indulged in corruption and scams. People have decided to change the government and bless the BJP to form a government this time," Singh said while addressing a massive Vijay Shankalp Yatra at Patana in Keonjhar district today.

He exuded confidence that the BJP would get the majority of seats and form a government for the first time in Odisha.

The Union Minister targeted the Naveen Patnaik government over its failures in various sectors.

He lamented saying that the people of Odisha have been deprived of getting the benefit of Aayushman Bharat schemes due to the callous attitude of the Odisha government. He said promises made in the manifesto will be implemented in letter and spirit after the BJP forms the government.
