As per the guidelines, the shopkeepers cannot keep more than 300 kg of firecrackers and maintain a distance of at least three metres between two shops. They need to avail empty space in front of the shops.

The shopkeepers are advised to sell the firecrackers at the designated places, issued by the Commissionerate Police.

As many as 25 locations in the city have been identified to set up firecracker shops. As many as 465 applications were submitted of which 200 applications were allowed to open the temporary shops at the designated place.

Besides, each shop should have an adequate stock of firefighting equipment, including two fire extinguishers, water and two sacks full of dry sand.

Bhubaneswar DCP Suresh Dev Datta Singh appealed to the people to purchase the firecrackers from the certified shops at designated areas in the city.  He also urged the residents of the State Capital to lit or burst green crackers and celebrate the festival of light safely.

Meanwhile, the Commissionerate Police today conducted a massive raid at an illegal firecracker godown in the city outskirts and seized firecrackers worth over Rs 30 lakh.

Police also arrested two persons for producing and storing firecrackers illegally during raids in Balianta area under Bhubaneswar Urban Police District (UPD).

However, the spinner, who has won three IPL titles under Rohit's captaincy for Mumbai, feels that the opening batter will be retained after winning the T20 World Cup 2024. 

Other than Rohit, the veteran cricketer believes captain Hardik Pandya, pacer Jasprit Bumrah, batter Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma will be retained by the franchise to keep their core group intact before the mega auction.

“Mumbai Indians is a team that hasn’t played well in the last two to three years. They’ve been a champion team, a very good team, and as far as I know, they will definitely think of building a team for the future. But that doesn’t mean they won’t add experienced players this year. Last year, they made Hardik Pandya captain, and I think he will definitely be retained. Jasprit Bumrah will be retained, Suryakumar Yadav will be retained, and the question remains whether Rohit Sharma will be retained," Harbhajan told Star Sports about the potential IPL retentions for Mumbai Indians.

The 44-year-old picked Nehal Wadhera as Mumbai's final pick under the uncapped category to complete their six retentions before the deadline of October 31.

"He has just won the World Cup as a captain, so I think he should be retained, and he will be. That will make four players, and if there’s a fifth player, then Tilak Varma will be retained. Tilak Varma is one of those players who will be very useful for Mumbai Indians in the future to win matches. When it comes to bowling, I don’t think there’s anyone else they would want to retain, so Nehal Wadhera could be a good option for them. He is an uncapped player, so he should be picked," he added.

In the IPL 2024, five-time champions Mumbai Indians finished at the bottom of the table under Pandya's captaincy. They won just four games out of 14 league stage fixtures and stayed at the bottom half of the table throughout the season.

Marandi, pledging to tackle nepotism, corruption, and infiltration in the state, emphasised his commitment to protecting Jharkhand’s "roti, maati, and beti (livelihood, land, and daughters)."

He expressed confidence that the people of Dhanwar and the entire state would support the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and enable the BJP to form the government.

Marandi highlighted the BJP's 'Panch Pran (five vows)', which aim to fulfill the aspirations of Jharkhand's 3.5 crore people.

Among the initiatives is the 'Gogo Didi scheme', which will provide Rs 2,100 directly to the bank accounts of women of Jharkhand on the 11th of each month. The 'Laxmi Johar Yojana' promises subsidised gas cylinders at Rs 500 and two free cylinders per year for every household, he said.

Under the 'Ghar Sakar Yojana,' 21 lakh families will receive permanent housing, and five lakh jobs will be created over the next five years.

Additionally, the 'Yuva Sathi Yojana' will offer financial assistance of Rs 2,000 per month for two years to graduates and postgraduates preparing for competitive exams.

Union Women and Child Development Minister Annapurna Devi, BJP leader Lakshman Prasad Singh, and numerous supporters joined Marandi during his nomination filing.

Before filing nominations, Marandi performed a special puja at his home in Giridih, seeking blessings from his mother and elders. He arrived at the nomination wearing a symbolic silver crown.

The elections in Jharkhand will be held in two phases on November 13 and 20. The last date for filing nominations for the second phase is October 29, while the counting is scheduled for November 23.
