Alia Attends MET Gala In Sabyasachi Saree That Took 'Collective Effort' Of 16...

Alia Bhatt attended the prestigious MET Gala wearing a saree by renowned Indian designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee, meticulously crafted by 163 "dedicated individuals" investing “1965-man hours” to make the “ethereal ensembles”.

Mumbai, May 7: Alia Bhatt attended the prestigious MET Gala wearing a saree by renowned Indian designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee, meticulously crafted by 163 "dedicated individuals" investing “1965-man hours” to make the “ethereal ensembles”.

Alia shared her MET Gala look on Instagram, radiantly donning the saree on the carpet. The saree's colour palette paid homage to "nature’s beauty."

Describing her look, Alia said it’s called the "Garden of Time - an ode to art and eternity."

"Timelessness is endless, and we acknowledge that things crafted with time and care, can last forever. In our journey for an Indian interpretation of this universal theme, the outfit took on a life of its own," she added.

“Nothing embodies tradition and innovation like the saree; in the skilled hands of #SabyasachiMukherjee, this vision found its fullest expression. We looked to the past as a guide for the future, drawing inspiration from the timeless sophistication of Indian nobility.”

The actress added: “We focused on intricate craftsmanship, incorporating hand embroidery, precious stones, along with elegant beadwork and fringes, distinctive of the 1920’s fringe style. Our colour palette pays homage to nature's beauty, echoing the earth, sky, and sea.”

Talking about the look, Alia said she chose a delicate nostalgia for “hair and makeup - an elevated coiffure embellished with intricately woven braids and soft freckles - a homage to time's gentle caress.”

“Creating this has been quite an experience… fun and stressful in equal parts. It has taken a collective effort of 163 dedicated individuals, including master craftspeople, embroiderers, artists, and dyers, investing a total of 1965-man hours to create this ethereal saree.”

The actress then went on to thank her crew for the look.

“As I wear this outfit, I feel incredibly grateful to embody this exquisite creation, a testament to boundless love and painstaking effort.

The MET Gala is an annual fundraising event which is held in celebration of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute. It is one of the most exclusive events of the year.

PM Modi Accuses Bengal CM Of Succumbing To Islamic Fanatics & Maligning Saints

Kolkata, May 19: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday accused the West Bengal Chief Minister of 'succumbing to Islamic fanatics' and maligning the saints of iconic institutions who are engaged in human services.

PM Modi said the appeasement politics is prompting Trinamool Congress to malign and threaten iconic institutions like Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission, Bharat Sevashram Sangha and ISKCON.

“From this platform, I am directly accusing the Chief Minister of succumbing to the Islamic fanatics and maligning the saints of these iconic institutions who are engaged in human services. Trinamool Congress is also maligning the Ram Mandir. How long will the people of West Bengal tolerate this? Time has come to give a fitting reply to Trinamool Congress through your votes," the Prime Minister said.

The PM was addressing an election meeting at the Bishnupur Lok Sabha constituency in the Bankura district of West Bengal from where Saumitra Khan is the BJP candidate.

The PM also said that there was a common factor in Congress, Trinamool Congress and the Left parties which is their intention to keep the people poor.

“It seems that Congress, Trinamool and Left Parties are different political entities. But the nature of their sins is the same. So that is why they have united under the INDIA bloc. They want to keep the people poor and so wherever they come to power the economy there becomes bankrupt. West Bengal is the best example on this count. Human Development is not the model for these parties,” the Prime Minister said.

The Prime Minister also said that after neglecting the refugees in West Bengal for years, Trinamool Congress, Left Parties and Congress never bothered about them but are now opposing the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

“Already 300 refugee families have got citizenship. The refugee families in West Bengal will also get citizenship through CAA. Unfortunately, the basic intention of Trinamool Congress is bad,” the Prime Minister said.

The Prime Minister also said that he was taking legal advice on how to return the money looted by Trinamool Congress leaders to the people of the state.

Badminton: Sukant Kadam Seals Quota Place For Paris Paralympics

New Delhi, May 19: Ace para-shuttler Sukant Kadam has sealed his berth for the upcoming Paralympics Games in Paris and will compete in the quadrennial mega event for the first time and represent the country in the Men’s SL 4 category.

Over the last few years, Sukant has consistently performed well and won medals for the country. In the Asian Games, he clinched a bronze medal. His smooth run on the court earned him the first-ever berth in the Paralympics. The Paralympic Games will be held in Paris from August 28 to September 8.

Talking about his excitement, Kadam said he is looking forward to winning a medal at the highest level and making the country proud.

“This is a dream come true for me, I have worked really hard to qualify for the Paralympics. But this is not the end of the dream, winning a medal and making India proud is how I would like this dream to end," he said.
