The Mumbai Police officials have identified the origin of the message received on the traffic police control to be from Karnataka. After this, a team of cops has been dispatched to nab the culprit in the bordering state of Maharashtra.

This is the third such incident in a span of 3 weeks where different people have threatened the Bollywood superstar demanding money from him in exchange for “security”.

Earlier, a person who allegedly issued death threats to Salman was nabbed from NOIDA in the NCR region. Prior to that, a person from Jharkhand sent threatening messages to Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, and later issued an apology. 

Earlier, the person in question had portrayed himself to be a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, and had asked for Rs 5 crore to settle the matter.

The traffic police had received a message stating that the message shouldn’t be taken lightly, and if Salman wants to end the feud with Lawrence then he has to pay Rs 5 crore to settle the matter. The message further stated that if Salman fails to do so then he will face a similar fate as slain politician Baba Siddique.

Baba Siddique, who joined Ajit Pawar faction of NCP, died after being shot at by unidentified persons on October 12. The firing took place outside his MLA son Zeeshan Siddique’s office near Colgate ground in Nirmal Nagar in the Bandra area of Mumbai. Salman and Baba Siddique were close friends as the politician held the constituency where Salman lives.

Baba Siddique’s Iftar parties were considered one of the high profile events of India’s entertainment capital. Several media reports state that Salman, who will be seen in a cameo appearance as Chulbul Pandey in the upcoming Rohit Shetty directorial ‘Singham Again’, is spending sleepless nights after Baba’s assassination as he was his close friend.

In the bowling rankings, Deepti Sharma gained important rating points in the ODI bowling rankings after her fine efforts in the day-night match helped India clinch the series 2-1. The off-spinner attained a career-high 703 rating points, 17 points clear from England's Kate Cross (686), after her haul of three for 39. Sophie Ecclestone remains well clear in the top spot (770).

In other notable ranking moves in the bowler's list, Renuka Singh up four places to be on 32nd, Saima Thakor (up 20 places to joint-77th) and Priya Mishra (up six places to 83rd) have all progressed.

Lea Tahuhu's late charge with the bat (24 not out off 14 balls) in the match was enough for a five-spot jump in the ODI all-rounder rankings, moving up to 27th (126 ranking points).

Six registered voters of the tiny town in the northeastern United States cast their ballots at midnight, following a tradition that dates back decades ago. Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris and Republican candidate Donald Trump are tied in the town in a 3-3 vote.

Amid heightened security, the vast majority of polling stations across the country open on Tuesday morning and will remain open until the evening.

Local officials are taking elaborate measures to fortify election-related sites, including plans for snipers on a rooftop to protect a key vote-counting headquarters, panic buttons for election workers, and surveillance drones buzzing overhead, reports Xinhua, quoting The Washington Post.

Tens of millions of voters across the country have already cast their ballots early, either by voting in person at polling stations or by mail. According to data from the University of Florida's Election Lab, as of Monday night, more than 82 million voters had already cast their ballots.

This election is widely regarded as one of the most divisive in American history. Harris and Trump have repeatedly warned against potentially catastrophic consequences inflicted on the country if the other is elected. Voters hold vastly different views on key issues such as the economy, immigration, and abortion rights.

According to an annual survey conducted by the American Psychological Association, 77 per cent of US adults said the future of the nation was a significant source of stress in their lives. Additionally, 74 per cent said they were worried that the election results could lead to violence.

"I would hope that whoever wins the presidential election will handle it gracefully, and whoever doesn't win, likewise, will handle it gracefully," Annmarie Pintal, one of the just six voters registered to vote in Dixville Notch, told Xinhua.

"We need unity. We need to come together on the common ground and be willing to set aside our differences," said Scott Maxwell, another voter in the small town.
