The victim has been identified as Danidhar Pali (65) of the same locality.
As per the report, Danidhar had been to attend nature’s call near Nuapada pond located on the outskirts of the village in the wee hours today when the wild animal attack took place.
An Indian sloth bear which had sneaked into the village from nearby Sahajkhol forest pounced on Danidhar to maul severely.
Hearing the screams of the victim some local residents reached the spot post which the bear ran into the forest. Later, he was rushed to Koksara Community Health Centre (CHC) for treatment with the assistance of Forest Department officials.
While Danidhar’s condition is stable now, Ghantiguda Forest officials have assured his family members of monetary assistance as per the existing government provision.
