The incident occurred in Durupai village under Kashipur police limits in the district on Saturday.
As per reports, one Tacheri Majhi of Durupai village was found dead on roadside near the village yesterday. His family members alleged that Tacheri was killed by miscreants as they spotted multiple injuries on his body. Subsequently, they filed an FIR at Kashipur police station in this connection.
Kashipur police along with a scientific team reached the village and started an investigation into the incident. The body had to be taken to Kashipur hospital for autopsy for which an ambulance was called.
However, the ambulance could not reach the village due to the lack of proper road connectivity. It stopped around three kilometres away from the village.
With no other option left, the family members with the help of the villagers decided to carry the body on a sling for three kilometres to avail the ambulance.
From there, the ambulance took the body to the primary health centre (PHC) at Kashipur for post-mortem.
It is not an isolated case in the district. Several villages in the district lack all-weather motorable roads for which patients and expectant mothers are being carried on cot or sling to reach the hospital.
