New Delhi, Dec 28: Oscar and Grammy-winning Indian composer AR Rahman says the work that BAFTA plans to do in India with the Breakthrough Initiative will have a wide impact far beyond Bollywood.
Bhubaneswar, Dec 9: BJP State vice-president Lekhasri Samantasinghar on Saturday targeted the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) over the income tax raids on liquor traders and seizure of hundreds of crores of black money from them in Odisha.
Samantsinghar alleged that Ministers Niranjan Pujari, Pradeep Amat, Tukuni Sahu, and BJD leader Yogesh Singh are involved in the frauds. She said while a Congress MP from Jharkhand is the owner, the BJD is the manager.
"What were the State government agencies like Vigilance, Crime Branch, Excise Department and EOW were doing," wanted to know Samantsinghar.
She further alleged that the liquor traders are a big source of funds for the BJD during elections.
Samantsinghar also alleged that a particular company was given tender many times by the State government. She demanded that the Chief Minister make it clear which leaders and Ministers are involved in the alleged tender issuance process.
"The raids have been conducted and huge amounts of black money seized. These have been possible because of Narendra Modi's leadership, alleged Samantasinghar.
