Based on a tip-off on the cattle consignment which was en-route West Bengal from Odisha’s Bhadrak a team of Simulia Police put up a blockade for vehicle check at Jamujhari Chhak on the NH late in the night.
By intercepting a truck and two SUVs escorting it the police team discovered as many as 39 cattle which were being transported and rescued them.
Later, 11 persons from both the SUVs and the truck were detained for questioning as they failed to show cattle transport permit.
The rescued cattle have been kept at Maitapur Rudrashram post their rescue and the investigation is underway.
