Bhadrak, Sept 22: Tension ran high, and vehicular movement was fully disrupted on the Basudevpur-Dhamra road as truck drivers kept their vehicles stationery and protested goons' attack on a colleague at Betada Bazaar under Basudebpur block in Bhadrak district on Sunday.

According to the information, some local goons stopped an iron-laden truck and demanded extortion from the driver. As the driver refused to give money, the goons thrashed him severely and snatched away his money purse. Drivers of other iron-laden trucks soon gathered and sat on the road demanding action against the goons.

Soon hundreds of trucks lined up on the Dharmra road. As a result, vehicular movement was disrupted for a few hours.

Normalcy was restored after police detained a goon and assured the drivers of action against the culprits.
