Bhubaneswar, Sept 13: Odisha Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling announced Friday that preparations are underway to establish a second campus of the All India Institute of Medical Science campus in Sambalpur, adding that the State is set to become a leading hub in the health sector within the next five years.

Mahaling also thanked Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan for announcing the Central Health Project.

"This is a matter of great joy that CM Mohan Charan Majhi and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan have announced that the second AIIMS campus of the state will come up in Sambalpur. Preparations are underway for that. Availability of plots of land is also being looked into. In the next five years, Odisha will become the best hub for the health sector," Mahaling told ANI.

Mahaling said, "Today a meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister in which all the ministers and MLAs were also present. A roadmap was made for the membership campaign going on across the country. Our government is also going to celebrate Seva Saptah."

The Odisha Health Minister also reiterated that the state government will launch the Subhadra Yojana September 17, coinciding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday.

"On the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, our government is going to launch the Subhadra Yojana, which was also promised in our manifesto. Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate this scheme. We are going to organize a program at the district level regarding the achievements of our government in the last 100 days. Programs will be organized by our government across the state regarding all these schemes," he added.

Earlier, September 8, Odisha chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced that the state's second AIIMS will be built in Sambalpur.

"The second AIIMS of Odisha will come up in Sambalpur. The state government has already placed a demand in this regard before the Centre," CM Majhi said at the launch of the CM-KISAN Yojana at the GM University auditorium in Sambalpur.

The state got its first All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) in 2014 during the UPA regime.

Chief Minister Majhi on September 8 launched 'CM-KISAN Yojana' on the occasion of the Nuakhai festival at Odisha's Sambalpur in the presence of Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

The scheme aims to provide over 900 crore of financial assistance to 46 lakh small and marginal farmers who are not covered under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) yojana.

Earlier, Odisha's Deputy Chief Minister, Pravati Parida, flagged off the Subhadra Yojana awareness 'rath' on Ganesh Chaturthi.

Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida had earlier unveiled the 'Subhadra Yojana' portal at Lok Seva Bhavan in Bhubaneswar.

She explained, "Beneficiaries willing to apply for the flagship scheme can now visit the official website of Subhadra and avail themselves of the benefits by sharing the necessary details. It will be launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 17."

The scheme, with a budget of Rs 10,000 crore, has prepared a list of 1.5 crore women. A standard procedure will be set up for distributing funds. Chief Minister Majhi added, "No development can be achieved by ignoring women. The dream of every woman for financial independence and empowerment will be fulfilled with the implementation of the scheme."

Majhi said that the government too is committed to supporting the hopes and dreams of Odisha's 4.5 crore people and protecting Odia culture with a Rs 200 crore fund.
