Bhubaneswar, Sept 9: Odisha Health Director Bijay Mohapatra Monday said the department is fully prepared to contain any possible monkeypox situation, if, in any case, arises in the State.

The Health Director said the Government of India has taken adequate measures to check the entry of any monkeypox-affected person into the country.

"People with international travel history like their return from affected countries are being watched and sent to isolation. On Sunday, such a suspected person was kept in isolation. Checking is being strictly done at International airports," said Mohapatra.
Mohapatra said no person having symptoms of monkeypox has been detected in India yet. If any person comes from an affected country, he is being checked at international airport. A protocol is being followed.

He said the disease can be checked by avoiding direct contact.

The World Health Organisation has issued guidelines to isolate suspected patients and check the spread of the disease.
Its symptoms start from dizziness with fever and water blister-like marks on the body. The Government of India clarified that the person in isolation is fine.
