Odisha CM, Law Minister Meet Puri King, Hold Discussion For Smooth Conduct Of Rath Yatra

Bhubaneswar, July 1: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan met the erstwhile king of Puri, Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb here on Monday.

They had a discussion for a peaceful and smooth completion of the upcoming Rath Yatra, officials said.

The Ratha Yatra of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra is considered the oldest and largest Hindu chariot festival celebrated annually on the bright half of the lunar month of Ashadha (June-July).

This year, the holy Rath Yatra festival falls on July 7.

Meanwhile, the State government has decided to do away with the VIP darshan system inside the Shree Jagannath Temple, Puri, on the occasion of Rath Yatra.
