Bhubaneswar, July 8: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday announced an incentive of Rs 15 lakh each for star hockey player Amit Rohidas and ace javelin thrower Kishore Jena who will be representing India in the upcoming Paris Olympics.
The Chief Minister expressed hope that the incentive will inspire the two sportspersons from Odisha to excel and bring glory to the country, an official statement said.
CM Majhi said Jena and Rohidas have made their native places as well as the entire state proud by qualifying for the Paris Olympics.
“On behalf of the people of Odisha, I extend my best wishes and congratulations to both of them. I have full faith that their indomitable will, hard work, determination and hard work will inspire the young talents of the state. The financial support is an effort to encourage Javelin thrower Jena and hockey star Rohidas to participate in the Paris Olympics," CM Majhi said.
“The people of Odisha have full faith in the capabilities of both of them. With the blessings of Lord Jagannath, the Chief Minister expressed the hope that both will glorify the state and the country by displaying their best sports skills in the Olympics," he added.
The 2024 Paris Olympics will kick start on July 26 with an opening ceremony. A total of 184 countries will participate in the global sports event.
