Sonepur, July 11: A BJP worker in Odisha's Subarnapur district has reportedly gone missing since Wednesday evening. However, his family on Thursday said it was a political murder and alleged that some BJD leaders are involved in the crime.

As per reports, Surath Naik, a BJP worker of Phulchara village under Birmaharajpur police limits in the district, has gone missing since last evening.

Surath's son, Dayanidhi alleged that some local BJD leaders kidnapped and murdered him last evening. He also filed an FIR at Birmaharajpur police station in this regard.

The locals and family members of the victim today staged a road-blockade at Birmaharajpur demanding immediate arrest of the accused persons.

Later, Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Balangir MP Sangeeta Singh Deo and local MLA Raghunath Jagadala reached the spot and held talks with the victim's family members.

The protesters lifted the road-blockade after the Deputy Chief Minister assured the victim's family of justice at the earliest.

Meanwhile, police launched a massive search operation to find the missing BJP worker and nab the accused.
