Bhubaneswar, Oct 11: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday visited Durga Puja pandals in Bhubaneswar and offered prayers to Maa Durga on the auspicious occasion of Maha Ashtami.
The Chief Minister along with his wife and other senior BJP leaders visited several Puja Mandaps at Patna Sahi in Old Town, Baramunda, Nayapalli, Saheed Nagar and other places in the State Capital, so far. He is scheduled to visit the Rasulgarh puja pandal this evening.
“ Greetings to all on the occasion of Durga Puja today. I sought the blessings of Maa Durga for the wellbeing of the people across the State,” the Chief Minister said.
Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister waived off the rent of the Durga puja pandals across the State.
The famous Durga Puja is celebrated in Odisha and different parts of the country as a victory of good over evil and Maa Durga is considered as a symbol of shakti.
The festival commenced in Odisha yesterday with all rituals and festive spirit. Today, devotees are seen worshiping Goddess Durga, in different ‘Shakti Peethas’ and puja pandals across the state.
