Chilika, Oct 3: The general public in the nearby areas of Khordha Forest Range are living in fear due to the reports of active movements of a tiger and elephant herds.

Elephant herds' movements in villages near forest areas is quite common. However, it was a footprint of a tiger, reportedly a Bengal Tiger, which created fear in people's minds.

A tiger footprint has been spotted in an area under Ranpur Forest Department. It is speculated that this footprint is likely to be of the same tiger, which was seen in the Tangi-Balugaon Forest Range area a few days ago.

Since then, the tiger hasn't been spotted anywhere in the area, which leads to the speculation that the tiger has come to Ranpur forest range area.

In another report by the Tangi Forest Department, as many as 18 elephants have been spotted moving in herds in Tankol forest area.

According to the report, the 18 elephants include six tuskers, six female elephants and an identical number of baby elephants.

According to a drone report by Ranpur forest department, a total of 21 elephants, including three tuskers, six female elephants and 12 baby elephants, have been spotted moving in herds in Raipada forest area.

The forest department is concerned over the safety of the people as well as the animals, while the villagers are concerned about the possibility of damage of property, crops and agricultural fields.

The elephants are constantly getting active after sunset. There have been reports of elephants entering villages and their movements on the public roads, which has created a panic atmosphere among the people.
