Bhubaneswar, Jan 27: About an hour after his son Manmath Routray joined the BJD, Congress MLA Sura Routray resigned from all committees of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee today.

In his letter written in Odia, the Jatni MLA said he intended to resign from all committees of Congress on moral grounds.

"Despite my repeated urges, my son Manmath joined the BJD today. It has hurt my soul and integrity as well. Thus, my conscience has forced me to resign from all committees in which you had engaged me based on my popularity," read Routray's letter sent to PCC president Sarat Pattnayak.

He, however, mentioned that he would continue to be in Congress till his last breath.

"I will continue to remain in Congress. I will do whatever is entrusted to me by the party. My vote will never go to any other party," he mentioned further and urged the president to consider his situation and take steps accordingly.
